Writers strike

TV and film writers are due to strike tonight at midnight. With 47 film remakes scheduled for 2017, exactly what creative talent is at risk here? Hollywood is so incredibly full of itself.

Writers can come and go, and I will sense nothing different either way. I watch almost nothing new. MeTV, Antennae TV, The History Channel, and others fulfill my television needs quite nicely.

And since all the movie theatres in my area have declared themselves gun-free zones, it's been years since I've seen a current movie.

While the producers and writers aren't a big concern to me, a lot of regular folks make a living in the industry.

I'm sorry that the normal people are hurt in the slimy industry they chose to work.

I have been close to some TV and movie productions, and even the most normal of these folks are not very normal. They fit in the industry well.

And for the folks in the industry that I've not yet met, that might be more normal than the others I've met, forgive me for stereotyping.

If I remember right the late night hosts suffered the worst when there was nobody to write their jokes.

The memorable movies by people with vision, usually do a lot of the script themselves, or adapt a book that hooks them (see Martin Scorsese and other visionary directors).

The films this will affect are rewritten by moneys and focus groups.... Like those 47 remakes..

To be honest, I don't really watch movies anymore. They're boring for me, only the old ones (pre 2010) and just a few newer ones are good in my opinion. I don't care if they go on a strike. Movie quality has decreased a lot over time...

Scripts are almost non existant anyway. Special effects are the basis for most movies now.
