Well in Ft Worth area it is supposed to rain, sleet, ice, and snow with temps around 6-8 F. I'm really not too happy about this ;)
What kind of attachment is that your pulling with your Case?

Well the wife called just after dark last night and said the battery on the car was dead. I looked at the temp when I went to jump start her.-25. As soon as I got there I went to pop the hood on the truck, plastic lever to release the hood was so cold it broke right off in my hand. The jumper cables didn't want to uncoil had to get the wife to pull them straighter so I could use them. Got things going and went home. Got up this morning -28 the truck battery is dead. Got the car started and went to Walmart to buy two batteries. Got to work 2 hours late. What's next? Probably have to get an extension for the ice auger soon. Lake ice must be getting a lot thicker this week.
Calling for 8 to 18" here. I can handle the snow with my equipment. However, they are almost guaranteeing power outages. I'm sort of a preppers lite, so I have a tendency to use smaller generators that don't eat fuel. A 1K will spark my gas furnace (no fan- I have hot water heat), turn my chest freezer and fridge on and off as needed, supply light and run a small TV. If the cable company is online I will have that and a house phone. If not I have antenna that will bring in 60 stations. All of that, and only using ONE gallon of gas over about 8 hours. I also built a small solar system that will run the main things at night with no noise. I learned my lesson during the Nor-easter of October 2010. Sandy, in 2012, left the power out for 6 days and I barely noticed. I also have a fireplace and Little Buddies, as well as a Vesta for heat if needed. If this sounds like I am ready, I am not kidding myself. The weight of all that snow and ice can take down trees that can cause more damage than I can handle. I am NOT comfortable.
We once came close to buying one of those, but the company was the same one we bought an inflatable dart board from. What a rip, one throw of the dart and the board deflated quickly and was useless. :)
We both put in for today and Monday off weeks ago even before the storm was a thought so we don't have to get out until things begin to improve, AND both of us enjoying the outdoors: hunting, fishing, camping and similar we have the stuff to ride out the storm relatively well. At least unlike 5 years ago the predictions are not for extreme cold, ice storms and blocked roads for a week or even more.

that's our neighbor's rig giving us a hand, he's an old friend that hays on some of our land.
not sure the model but several pto driven 3 point hitch snow blowers for ag tractors out there. cool videos of different types on utoob, just search pto snow blower.
I've been kinda shopping for one but holding off until I get the skid steer. I'm shopping for an svl75 or 97 erops and I think that would serve as a better tool for snow removal.
we've always used a servis rhino blade on one of these. I have the 886 plugged in right now in case I have to grade our road.
gas powered 706 for extreme cold if diesel won't start, but it's hard on the operator
ag tractor is not the best tool for this kind of work but my folks made do with what they had and could afford.
They are making huge predictions of ice here. I hope they are wrong. My wife decided we "need" a generator, so she bought one today. I wouldn't have bought it, but it may be useful. They have closed the jobsite tomorrow & Monday so I've got a three day weekend. If the rain moves through before the temperature drops, early a.m. Monday, I think things will just get wet. I find myself doubting the forecast though. The only times I've seen us get hit as hard as they are saying we will be is when the forecasters don't see it coming.
Talking 5-10" in the northeast Maryland area (where I live) and ice. By Monday morning I will know how much of what I got. Hope I can get Linda to her eye appointment on Monday. The major roads see a plow long before we do.

Sleet all night. Road out front looks pretty bad. Work closed until Monday 10 AM at the soonest. Temps over night Sat to Sun and Sun to Mon single digits so maybe no work until Tuesday. Here are screenshots of my weather app showing temps for Sunday and Monday morning. And all you folks in ND and AK, remember it gets to 110+ here with humidity.
Son had a snow blower when he lived in east central Iowa. He sold it when he moved back to MO so we didn't have to haul it plus far more buyers for it up there.
For most of 40 years I kept a tractor with front end dozer blade and tire chains ready to clear the road so I could get to work. After I retired, doesn't really make much diff so I'll just wait for the county plow.
Now, we just keep the big MFWD loader tractor in the shed next to the house in case there's a medical emergency requiring immediate extraction.

I hope we don't have to break out the red drift eraser. I have a blade on on the little 72hp Kubota (no cab, just a canopy) ready to go. Temps look great for all next week! Wind chills currently are like everyone else's: negative degrees. Right now it is 6:05 am and I am getting ready to jump in the heated cab of the Can Am and I'm heading out to start chopping iceholes in the ponds at the 3 rented farms. 102 head of cattle (with several close to calving) get thirsty; and so far we've birthed 4 that are a week or less old. I'll have to cut ice twice a day for the next as-far-as-I-can-see.

I appreciate the info on the blower as I was not familiar with them on a tractor like that...
I can certainly see how that it would probably work more effectively on a skid-steer than backing it on a tractor.

Woke up to 2 degree ......birds have begun to swarm the feeders. Last night on the way home from Wife's birthday dinner the fields were packed with deer.....I trust the animals senses more than I do the the weather channel and apps which change every minute.
Getting ready to go gas up all the vehicles. Parking them off of the driveway. My neighbor put the plow on his truck yesterday. I'll ask him to push it a couple times. Whenever we get big storms he will be out there all night long keeping a lane open on our road. Where we are is low priority for the two plow trucks our borough has. No chance of seeing a county or state truck here.

My fuel oil tank is full and the furnace is running fine. We have plenty of food in the house and our Generac 10KW generator set is on standby.
I have hired my friend's nephew to keep our driveway plowed for the winter and now that I am retired I don't have to be out in bad weather anymore.
All of my work IDs had travel ban exemptions on them and there were many times that I made it to work when any sane man would have stayed home.
On the brighter side, today is my 11th anniversary with my current wife!

Nothing like being prepared. Both of my500 gallon propane tanks that are dedicated to the house were topped off Wednesday. And the 320 gallon propane dedicated tank for the Generac 24k generator is full too, although with us mainly getting snow with a little sleet, I'm not too concerned about outages here. Not like 2009 when 2" of freezing rain took out power for 32 days.
Nice! Way back here where the county doesn't get to after a storm for 3-5 days, I am the volunteer who breaks the roads and neighbors' driveways open after a storm or large snowfall. At 64, I'm younger than most of my neighbors and can take the elements better.
LOL Mine too. Wonder if they still work after I've been retired for 3 years.
And for that: Congratulations!
They are for when interstates/highways are closed due to excessive snow or ice (travel ban), but those people who are considered to be "essential employees" for the public good- we cannot be ticketed if caught on the roads. FYI- when it is that bad on the roads, I have never seen the police out to pull me over and check my credentials anyway.
That's a myth. Geoengineering killed them, and continues to kill life on this planet. It's not even a secret. It's intentional.

Just pulled up the traveler's information map on MoDOT's website, out of morbid curiosity. Pretty much every highway in Missouri shows as "covered" or "partly covered" right now. And it's just getting started for my part of the state (the initial impacts seem to have been along and north of I-70, and along/south of I-44).
It's absolutely freezing where I live. Bright sunny skies and 60° F.
