will weaver mount scratch firearm?

Would a length of tape on back be a good idea?

Scratches come from friction, moving of the mount over the receiver. Get it on, secured and there's no movement.

The barrel clamp used to be blued steel but the newer ones seem to be covered with a Teflon. The bases don't scratch since they're aluminum but the clamp could if it becomes loose and the coating wears through.

Barrel bands are not teflon coated, they're polymer now.

I don't know Blackhawk, here is my Weaver mount that I bought this summer and the clamp is hanging off the end of a magnet.

Not if you polish the contact surfaces before mounting. And there's always non-metallic shim material to eliminate metal-to-metal contact.

Lots of good advice here, but if it was my gun I would expect to see some marks when I removed the mount. Blue guns are just that way........
