delete the price their firearm sold for, I dont understand, why do that???

it would make a good reference point to see what firearms are worth or selling for without having to go to auction sites or books, you can throw the book out the window on some Colts , some smiths and some other guns because as you know it aint too accurate....

A couple of sites suggest not deleting the price but leaving it, it is a suggestion not a rule, but it makes sense to me, not a rant just curioius

With me it's a personal thing...if I make a deal with someone I prefer to have that between me and the buyer (or seller)...I've had a couple of occasions where I purchased a firearm and the price was left in place..this was on another forum where there is "feedback" (sort of like Ebay does). In one case I had spent about $75 for some much needed work on a Vaquero..that need for work was why I bought the gun fairly cheap. About 6 months or so later I advertised it for sale at "my price" after repairs and got several "comments" that I was asking way more than I'd paid for the gun...seems the "buyers" had gone back in my feedback record and done some research. The gun went to Gun Broker and sold..similar situation with another deal....I bought the gun really worth the money...I paid the sellers price without dickering...I bought it to resell...When I posted it for sale...same scenario..."you didn't pay that much for it".

There is a blue book...there is the "completed items" portion of things like Gun Broker and if a person is really interested you can keep track of a gun you are interested in and it's "asking price" and if it sells figure it got the price or near it...I don't care to be someone's research data on private business...Just my 2 cents.

"Hey I got a great deal for $300.00 from another member here" that is up to them

It is frustrating. I understand why people do it, it's nobody's business. But if you're going to do that, then delete the whole thing. If you need proof, take a screen shot.

I'm trying to sell four handguns and spent a lot of time trying to come up with fair, current prices. But it seemed like every time I found something from the last couple years, the price had been removed. So with one of them I just started with what I felt was high and I'm working my way down. I'm not selling them for fun, I'm selling them because I need the money. Which means I need the most money I can get. I'm not trying to screw anyone, but I don't want to get screwed either.

The best way to determine value/price is do a simple search of your item on GunBroker
Look at current and sold listings

Set a price and adjust as needed
In the end what a buyer wants to pay will determine if you want to sell it at that price

I agree with the original poster... it is frustrating and all the reasons for removing the original asking price just don't float for me. My point is if the gun is sold for less I would presume that is done via private messaging or email not on the add and even if it is negotiated down in public.... why is that some big secret unless someone is ashamed of what they paid or got for the gun? .... and if so, they need to rethink the whole selling/buying thing.

the privacy word keeps popping up, now thats funny right there i dont care who you are, Git R Done........This is the freakin' world wide internet....but whatever, the price was up at one time, why even put a price , Just PM back and forth, til a deal is reached..i asked why, got answer but IMHO they dont make sense to me anyhoo

TONS of guns are sold on gunbroker at competitive prices...just got to know what you are looking for.

For most guns, it is no problem determining a fair market price, using gunbroker...if you can get past your bias against it.

...this isnt the only site prices are deleted after something sells.,...S&W, Ruger, Colt AK , Marlin sites etc do it also, anyway some do.....some dont , MOST do.......so i guess that is the right thing to do...just wondering why, I dont/wouldnt,... some/most do
