Whose grips ?

Not Ruger related but I would like a little information on these grips if anyone knows.Bought a vintage Python about three years ago,they came as extra's with the gun.Was wondering who made them and what they are made from.They are extremely well made and fit better than any grips I have had on most of my handguns.Any thoughts ?

Mustang grips?? some sort of South American wood?? either brazil OR maye it was the Philipines?? bet Cary would know..........we used to sell them ,but hell if I can remember now..........I can almost "see" (picture) the box and the writing on it, maybe coca bola?? hate getting old.............

I think the color is wrong for cocbolo. I am leaning a little more towards morado. I can't help you with the maker I haven't seen anybody that uses an insert for the locater pin. STeve

I would say Macassar Ebony.

There is an Indian rosewood that looks very much like that, looks very similar to Eagle Grips that are made in India.

I'm still voting Macassar Ebony. The stripes can vary from wide to thin. It is the right color. This pic is a little dark but you can see the color.

I'm inclined to agree with you, now. Come to think of it, that wood looks a lot like the knife handles that was so popular a few years back.

Did you know that American persimmon wood is a species of ebony? Used to be a woodworking place here in Memphis that turned out persimmon wood golf club blanks for the industry. Don't think golf clubs are real anymore.

It made them fit like they were built on the gun,but I like it with the originals.
Incidently,listed them on the Colt Forum and sold them in 5 minutes.
