One sunny day in January, 2017, an old man approaches the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue where he’d been sitting on a park bench. He speaks to the U.S. Marine standing guard and says, “I would like to go in and meet with President Obama.” The Marine looks at the man and says, “Sir, Mr. Obama is no longer president and no longer resides here.” The old man says, “Okay,” and walks away.

The following day the same man approaches the White House and says to the same Marine, “I would like to go in and meet with President Obama.” The Marine again tells the man, “Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Obama is no longer president and no longer resides here.” The man thanks him and again walks away.

On the third day, the same man approaches the White House and speaks to the very same U.S. Marine, saying, “I would like to go in and meet with President Obama.” The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looks at the man and says, “Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Obama.

I’ve told you already that Mr. Obama is no longer the president and no longer resides here. Don’t you understand?”

The old man looks at the Marine and says, “Oh, I understand. I just love hearing it.”

The Marine snaps to attention, salutes, and says, “See you tomorrow, Sir!”

I was a new Lockheed guard working the main gate early 1965 when they were still in Burbank. It was a early Sunday morning and very quiet, no activity in the plant and hardly no traffic on Hollywood way. At a distance of a block or so I seen a nut walking towards me. Somehow, sometimes you can just tell someone is "off" even a block away. This guy looked to be 45 or so with a close military haircut, long sleeve white dress shirt and walking like a soldier. Came up to my gate and said I am here to see General Eisenhower. I said do you mean ex president Eisenhower? What makes you think he would be here? He was totally confused and didn't know his General had made president! Well someone had told him General Eisenhower was right there in that building, and he pointed to our main now empty factory building.
I surmise this guy must have been locked up with shell shock and just turned loose. Things got even better as time went on.

National Park police and Treasury guys (SS) guard the White House... the marines are only on guard at the West Wing when the president is there. DC cops patrol outside.

Hi,

C'mon, it's a JOKE!

And still as funny as it was four years ago when I first heard it... ;)
