I am hoping to get my electric furnace for casting bullets in the near future, and I am trying to decide where I am going to be casting bullets. I am thinking about a decent table in the driveway, but I am not sure. If I can put it near one of the windows in the corner of the basement I will since there is nothing else there (good ventilation there). These is no carpet or insulation so there is nothing to worry about getting any lead on. Where do you cast your bullets?

I've cast in various places, even in the spare bathroom!
(Painted models in there too when mama wasn't looking...heh heh)
Yep, got one of those little paint/sandblast cabinets from Harbor Freight with a fan in it, set it on a small table near the window and routed the fumes out via some dryer hose...
(BTW, if the cabinet looks "odd", it's because it is stood on end.. )

Outside on a table? Perfect...In the basement with a rig like this? Also fine, and warm in the winter! :D

Just outside my garage door. I have the table with small wheels so I can move it. If you have an old piece of carpet it don't hurt to use it where you might drop your mold. It just might save your mold from hitting cement and getting ruined if you drop it. Remember to have ventelation, no way a drop of water can get into the lead pot, and keep children and know it all neighbors away. :P Happy casting. Steve

I cast in the garage with the door open for now. I will use a table just outside when it warms up and stops raining.

I cast on my workbench in the basement, been doing it for 40 years. Much more comfortable than outside. Smelting, that is done outside.

Outside on a picnic table- Afternoons with baseball on the radio.
Plenty of brezze in Nebraska. I crank out a lot in one sitting. I store all my cast supplies in the barn. Rainy days are for inspection, weed out the bad ones , sizing/lubing.
Don't do a whole lot with casting if I can't do it outside. Reloading is done indoors.

Outside on the grill with a small lead pot and a ladle.

Hi,

Most of the time it's outside on the back porch. I have worked inside the garage, but make sure both the big and small doors are open at least a little, and run a fan pointed toward the bigger opening, away from me.

It's warm enough here, but if I were in colder climes, I'd be thinking seriously of something like Bucks' rig, too!

Howdy

I only cast a few weekends in the fall. I cast in the basement with the bulkhead door wide open. So I have to wait until fall when all the mosquitoes are gone.

I set up a fan next to the pot to draw the fumes away from the pot and blow them towards the open bulkhead. You want to be careful about too much draft, it can cool down your melt. Blowing air over the pot can tend to cool the melt, so I only pull the fumes away from the pot and direct them to the bulkhead. You don't need a whole lot of draft, enough to blow cigarette smoke away is all you need.
