Was he suicidal? Just plain stupid? Either way he got himself shot by an elderly couple, tased by leo, and arrested.

Generally, a sign that says ‘Gun-Free Zone’ turns a location into an appealing target for criminals. On the other hand, a sign like ‘Smith & Wesson Spoken Here’ — which might as well read ‘This is NOT a Gun-Free Zone’ — is thought to deter crime.

In this case, 24-year-old Christian Herbert decided to break into a rural Utah home in spite of at least two warning signs: the second sign, posted directly above the S&W sign with crossed revolvers above, features a smoking 1911 and reads ‘It Takes Courage to Be Free: That’s What It Means to Be American.’

No one ever said criminals were smart! Probably couldn't read or understand
the sign. Crossed revolvers would be a dead giveaway, for someone with a brain. ps

Perhaps. But could also be low capacity mouse guns taking on a big guy on some heavy duty drugs. Or a combination of those things. The available facts do not support any conclusions at this time.

I need to get out more! We live about 10 or 15 miles from the location and this is the first I heard of it!

Or maybe he saw the signs advertising "guns inside" and wanted them. I don't advertise that there are any weapons in my home. Those signs are not going to stop some stupid people or crack addicts.

About a week ago only a quarter mile away there was a house fire. They found a guy in it and claim there was "evidence" he commited suicide. Yet his name nor what that "evidence" was, was given. I drove past it. It`s taped off, was a brand new pickup in the driveway with the new invoice sticker on the window, a new looking Polaris RZR in the garage, the new expensive house destroyed, since that was all the newspaper had to say, I suspect it was a lot more than just suicide. We will eventually hear more.
We retired and moved here thirteen years ago. In that time the town has at least doubled or tripled in size! Is the entire nation going like this? Unbelievable! The area where that guy was shot is or was, in the middle of mountainside junipers and woods. In the last few years I have been noticing all kinds of houses and cabins being built, almost hidden by the trees with trails going to them. This part of the world is sure changing!

Yeah,I at least should've put a question mark at the end.
