Since I'm the worst speller here and have lost a lot of my typing ability I won't jump on that.
I like a few others, find the spelling and grammar police a little trying at times...
I was going to try and make some joke about planning to finish chewing on the bone I gave my dog yesterday ... tomorrow... but can't quite get it to the punch I want.
Now I will say I find it strange that many here who like me have a problem both typing and spelling don't realize there is an edit feature one can use after posting... both the text of the post as well as the title if you are the OP.
So, to answer the OP's question I'll just post a great sailer's quote, "I Yam what I Yam"

We all know that saying "Good morning" is racist. Right?
Well you described me for sure... I failed college freshman English 3 times... I found it and the teachers very 'trying'.
If one reads the federalist papers they will realize our founding fathers would have never passed high school English.
I think it is Samuel Johnson's fault and behind him came others... like Webster.... but now of course we have A.I. to write for us....
damn I was born too early.... and thus don't have a clue who I will be tomorrow...

Yeah, it was definitely a trial - we were assigned paper after paper after paper after paper! Eventually, the instructor told us to write something without specifying a subject, so I wrote a paper accusing him of being part of a conspiracy to use up the entire paper supply...

Sounds like a cop out. Most of my language skills were in place long before high school.
You could say the same about Geoffrey Chaucer or William Shakespeare. Language evolves.

my 1st professor, whom I despised since he rarely gave anyone a passing grade on anything, did something similar. So, I wrote a paper describing him as being what I felt was a "schizophrenic psychopath". I'm not at all sure why
but he immediately threw me out of his class. 
Anyway, the next professor was cool as all get out and I passed easily... I found that worked on certain types of bosses too . . . . .

I had a boss who asked for technical input but only took advice when it matched his agenda. The teachers / professors make a difference on how well a student catches on, and by the time we're out of elementary school if we don't get it, the remedial part is very difficult or worse too late for some. Some teachers and professors should not be teaching.
In elementary school I was horrid at math and my dad made it worse with him being a near genius in every math discipline and he made insulting remarks about my not "seeing" things so often I stopped asking for help.
Leaving high school it wasn't until I joined the Navy and took a course in hydraulics that I "got it". The instructor showed us how the "order of precedence" was applied to formulas and my math problems went away. Lucky for me because later on in college electronics math would have been impossible if not for him.
Also home life goes a long way for early students. My sister was three grades above me and made up reading and spelling games with me so by the time I hit first grade I could read and spell better than many adults.

I know it's deep... but I think if they are reviewed by our current Spelling and Grammar police I would be right. I read somewhere that most English Professors say the declaration of Independence is poorly written... keep in mind I think it is one of the greatest documents ever written. A little long and heavy with detail but the last sentence says it all.
I've always been one to rebel is the problem and in high school I just was not happy at least in most classes.. probably because I was a dumb jock, poet wannabe. Not until my 5th year of college did I actually figure out how to study and succeed... then by the 6th I was tired and decided to drop out.....
Oh, and I stoped trying to interpret M118LR's post about 3 days ago.
