Hi,

Great picture! This is the time of year we get some of our most spectacular sunsets here, too: air is clear, clouds are blowing around in all kinds of variations (even though rain is scarce!) and the angle of the sun must play into the overall scene. Love it!

I've always wondered how an atheist can look upon such a scene and not believe in God, how they can believe that this beautiful, breathtaking World can be the result of some cosmic "accident".

I think that frequently too. It goes along with my star theory. The more we build dense cities, the more we crowd out nature. Pretty soon the residents can only see a few blocks around them. They can only see what man can produce. They have almost nothing but this limited view. Soon nothing exists but this urban viewpoint. Everything becomes self centered. One cannot even look up to the stars because they are not there. Man's light pollution has taken away a view of God's most amazing work, the rest of the universe. I live in a city and on a really clear night, I might see a dozen stars and planets. Most nights just a couple. I believe this makes it harder for people to believe in something larger than themselves.
So for me, keep bringing on the nature pictures.

Nicely put, Sam, and I agree with you about 100% and then some!

It's just about time for an annual camping trip to the desert. Some years, like last year, we get rain and the night sky isn't so impressive. But some years, it's crystal clear at night, with the Milky Way putting out enough light one can walk around in the dark just fine. And on the occasions we've been there around a full moon, one can almost see color in the middle of the night! And every year, we can look up an see the same stars in the same places. Random? I don't think so!
