I remember when Black Friday was a true mad house in the stores, sometimes resulting in violence. I remember people getting up at 1 AM to stand in line for some item usually some electronic item like a TV.

Thankfully the internet took some of that away and now the family likes to get together for family sake.

About a decade or so ago I would watch "all" the kids while my daughter and her friends lined up at Walmart @ midnight Friday morning.

I didn't mind one bit when that craze dissipated 🤪

On past years Wal Mart and Target were open for early Black Friday late Thanksgiving Thursday afternoon.

Thankfully they were closed yesterday.

I can’t remember ever going to a Wal Mart or Target on Black Friday. If we did it was later in the day.

Wakingg up early to go shopping has zero appeal.
My wife, son, daughter, son in law , daughter in law and now a grandson have worked a Black Friday at Target . Grandson has a 4pm - 11 shift today.

I've been know to shop Home Depot or Lowes on Black Friday after 11am.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
The family does a 'Secret Santa' each year to cut down on expenses. We set a $50.00 limit and drawn names via an app. The wife and I have ordered both our drawn names 'like to haves'. Sit back and await the delivery.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s, my wife and I would go into downtown Pittsburgh for Black Friday shopping. The big downtown department stores were empty because everyone at the malls fighting over stuff.

I work in retail now so I'm always working on Black Friday. No opportunity to go shopping.

I live in what I call the "retiree's window"; only leave the house between 10:00AM thru 2:30PM; almost never on Sat. or Sun.; and NEVER stand in any line for anything, ever. If I can't buy what I want on my terms, I simply don't buy. I realize that this won't work for everyone, but it really works for me.

Haven’t done Black Friday for years. When I used to “participate” I got more angry than I got deals. Don’t miss it a bit. Even the online sales seemed sort of blah this year. I bought another Ring camera the last week. Bkack Friday price wasn’t any better.

Also, their were some lawsuits against Walmart for trampling.

Really stupid marketing ploy that actually works for most of the masses out there....
I was taught a number of years ago that any big sales presentation is just basically showing you what the product should actually cost all the time.....

I used to get up early and drive half an hour to Walmart to be there after they opened but before the deals were revealed at 5:00. I did it because the deals were good, I had babies to shop for, and I had little money. Now days I shop almost all online and normally I am done by now ... just like this year. I am going to Walmart today for regular shopping since my wife's usual grocery day is Thursday and didn't go. Now that I am eating all meals from home we are out of food and I can't wait until Thursday.

I get most of my prescriptions at Walmart. Overall as a group measurably cheaper and they take Good RX. MA number of my [prescriptions ran put and I had to get them refilled on the weekend after Black Friday with the Black Friday prices till advertised.

Note to self. Don't do that again.

Yep, We do FAMILY Friday. Sit around, eat, play board/card games. catch a movie, etc - whatever to just spend family time together relaxing.

My last Black Friday was about 30 years ago. Went to the store and waited until the 6am start. I'm first in line at the counter. And the associate tells me what I want is sold out. I ask how since I'm first in line. And I get the shoulder shrug.
Now if someone online has a deal, great. I will order it. But no more getting up and standing in lines and such.
