Pens won the Stanley Cup last night. Another great game that wasn't decided until late. Big parade scheduled in Pittsburgh for Wednesday which means I'll have to get in a little early because it will come right past my office.
Really an awesome story with this team. In 10th place in December, they fired their coach and brought up Mike Sullivan from the AHL. Sullivan hadn't been a head coach in 10 years in the league. Made a handful of trades and reshaped the team with castoff a from other teams like Carl Hagelin and Trevor Daley. Had some injuries that ended up being beneficial in the long term. Had 3 different goalies start in the playoffs due to injuries. Their starting goalie ended up shelved for a 22 year old rookie because he played so well and didn't give up the starting job. Now he's in the record books. The resurgence of Phil Kessel after he was traded by Boston and Toronto due to questions about his work ethic. He ends up being the most productive player on the Stanley Cup champs while the media in Canada gets to watch him hoist the Cup.
