I stopped by my gunsmith's this morning, just to let him know I was still around so they wouldn't break my plate. Sort of touching base.
There was on the counter a ruptured barrel from a Dan Sesson. There was one bullet near the muzzle, one directly behind it, and the third which resulted in the burst. This a 6" full lug barrel/shroud assembly. The rupture was about 2" back from the muzzle, and it had split upwards and forward under the rib, and blew out the front sight.
They had asked the owner if he didn't notice anything unusual and his reply was that "a few rounds didn't sound right" but he kept on shooting anyway, until the barrel blew up. It was then that he suspected something was amiss.
