56 degrees and rain...lot of rain! Supposed to go up into the mid 80's and sunny by the weekend. Gotta love Maryland weather. Oh, to move to West Texas or Arizona. :?

Fall is great. 
I think the high was under 90 degrees today but of course it rained again.
btw I caught a 10lb King Mackerel and two Snappers on the drift boat today.

Sounds pretty much like here although yesterday was cooler and not as humid. Funny...almost always humid here but doesn't rain much...except for the occasional system that causes major flooding. By November it'll be really nice. :lol:

If I could do it I assure you I would. The hill country in that area is REALLY nice. I also like the area just west of El Paso and around Tuscon. My problem is I am too old, and have too much 'stuff', to make a move now. If I could afford TWO homes, and wouldn't have to uproot everything, I would move there in the winter in a heartbeat.graygun said:
A couple years ago I was leaving Tuscon just about this time of year. The weatherman said that we should "be prepared for some cool temps in the next couple days. It will be dropping into the mid 70s." I told the lady at the checkout counter of the hotel that that was a really good day here in MD. Cool was 40-50.Xsales said:

In the 50s and 60s yesterday with rain. Thank God. The King fire (90,000+ acres) that has been raging around here was slowed considerably (over 3/4" of rain in some spots) and is now over 60% contained. They are actually going to start sending some fire crews home in the next few days. At the peak there were over 8000 fire fighters battling the blaze.

I can not disagree with your observation concerning SoScal. However I'm talking about the fire in the Lake Tahoe region of the state. If the winds had been blowing south at the start? Who knows? You do your best to clear brush etc. (100'+) and then just hope for the best...

Indian Summer here too. This cool, wet, year has produced our best hay crop in years. We are almost finished baleing and stacking. If our last 200+ acres dries as it appears to be doing we should finish mowing, baling and stacking this coming week. We already have all of our cows off summer range and last week we sold our oldest 210 calves that all calved in early February. They averaged out 585 lbs weight at the Centenial Auction. The rest of our calves will go to the Auction by November 1 with selections weekly depending on the market.
We have had frost every night for the past ten nights with last night recording 29 degrees here on the ranch. The days are up to the 70s and sunny breezes, perfect for our work. Normally we get our first true snow before Halloween and I expect this year will be true to form. We did get a little snow one night two weeks ago but it melted off within a couple of hours when the sun came up that morning, so I don't count that.
