Can anyone point me to or know of any stainless WC GP100 for sale for a decent price? Guns International have them listed but when I e mailed they informed me it was outdated and sold. I saw 1 on Gunsamerica not sold but was almost suggested retail. Any help would be appreciated!
 
Just keep looking. I shopped hard last week for a 4 inch GP100 SS w/adj sights, finally found one from a local dealer,(he had one only). That one cost me $579 + tax. I hated paying it but in today's market the sellers are driving the cart. At the local gun show I missed a couple of used ones in the mid $400's but both were blued, one 4", one 6".
Haven't shot it yet but the DA trigger feels almost as good as a 686, none of the grit I have in my 6 inch 100. The SA feels the same-okay. Best of luck - it's a great revolver.

That sure makes me feel good about my 07 SS 4" GP that was located in another state by a fishing forum friend. By time it got to me cost was $405 and a dozen crappie jigs, as luck would have it my fishing partner ties crappie jigs. My 1st Ruger DS/SA revolver and I love it. Just missed a 6" Security Six at local pawn shop this morning, $400, didn't see it so don't know the condition.

I bought my WC on Gunbroker a few weeks ago, so they do show up on occasion. As for a decent price, they will get whatever the market will bear.
 
Thanks, I have been looking but I have come up a day late. Just didn't know if someone knew of a secret stash!
 
tell me about it. i have been shopping to buy both 3 and or 4 inch. this market is making it hard to find SS or blued and at this point i don't care. I am having a hard time with the WC prices. Plus other than the finish and the rear sights it doesn't seem to warrant the extra cost.

In my case the sights were a big reason I went for a WC. When you get old like me you need all the help you can get, and the fiber optic front sight was of particular interest to me. I'm not crazy about full sized grips on a 3" revolver though, so I put on a new set of compact grips I had lying around. I like the look much better.

I've asked this before..

has anyone or is anyone looking to get a tritium sight on their WC GP100?

NOVAK has them for $54, but I don't which size.
 
I bought one on gun broker but they only had one. I did see one in the local gun store the other day, Blackwing Shooting Range in Delaware, Ohio. Beautiful gun but retail price.

I bought my SS 4" GP100 a couple of weeks ago for about the same price at Cheaper than Dirt here. I don't know how many hey had. Great revolver.

okay while i am waiting to find mine. any opinions on the LCR 357. does it kick like a mule. can you hit anything with it?
 
Even though it's 4 ounces heavier than the 38+P LCR it replaced.

I don't like shooting any Magnum loads through mine.

Thus, my move to the Wiley Clapp GP100.

A Dan Wesson model 15 would have been OK as well but they are K frame sized guns if I recall.
Hard to find right now, as are the WCs.
 
Most guys more manly than me can handle a J frame or LCR .357 with full-house loads.

Others buy the .357 so they can shoot any standard or .38 +P load and have the extra 4 ounces to tame recoil.
 
well all i can say is if it has the same recoil as the smith lite --- the one with scandium frame then why bother. Man i shot one of those when they first came out and thought dam that hurts. I don't understand having a weapon that hurts to much to practice with. I understand that supposedly under the stress you aren't supposed to feel it....if like they say you react in the manner you practice then i would not be placing myself in a safe position. i wish i could find someone who has one to give it a try. well maybe i will just hold off and search for a test ride. i can see why so many opt for the 3 inch. It may be a bit more to conceal but dam if its any thing like the 6 inch it is a soft shooter. correlates to more trigger time and better odds of use.

now why have a 357 and just shot 38's.

i would rather give the 22 mag a run. The data seems to be proving the 22 mag out of the snubie is turning out almost the same numbers while not having the same bulet mass. I would think it makes up in ease of shot placement. Now this is of course all speculation on my part as i have neither.....for now...he-he.
 
If the .357 isn't sounding so good to you.

Bump up a few more ounces and look at the Ruger SP-101.

My wife is already thinking of the TALO version with all the engraving.

I like the DA/SA gun with the hammer better than the Double action Only versions.

how much more compact is the sp101 over the gp100 3 inch? how much bigger is it over the LCR?

where does one find a set of those grips? will the sp101 grips fit the gp100?

I had a pair of Hogue aftermarket I had from a SP101 I sold last year,(I know-stupid of me), and after seeing that photo tried them. They were about and inch too short for the GP100. Don't know about factory 101's.(Since stupid me didn't talk to smart me about the sale).
 
ok been doing some more research. it seems that the sp101 grips don't fit gp100. the gp100 grips like the one in the pics are called "fixed sight grips" looks like they can be found at midway. on back order. hmmm.
 
The SP101 is ten ounces heavier than the KLCR .357 and a bit bigger in all dimensions.

A GP-100 is Ruger's largest .357 frame( I believe) and 32 ounces or more.

Maybe a forum member who has both or all three can post a pic?
 
Ok, the compact grips my WC is sporting are made for the GP100 w/ 3" barrel and fixed sights. It is not the same grip as the SP101, although the grip panel inserts are interchangeable. In order to do the latter, the panels must be countersunk to accommodate the grip locator pin found in GPs. (done by the makers) The attached photo shows the new grip panels I just received in yesterday's mail. (the faux stag jobbies were just something I had lying around) Compact grips are a bit hard to get a hold of, so keep and eye out on eBay & GB. Midway is usually out of them, so put them on your wishlist and ask to be notified when/if they come in.

I had an LCR 357. Not a bad choice to shoot 38 Specials through. As was said 357 Magnum is a bit much for that light a weight gun. Good point the extra 4 oz. over the LCR 38 I did like for recoil management. Good Point it has a Pined On Front Sight so you can install either XS 24/7 Tritium or a Fiber Optic front sight. The extra 4 Oz over the LCR 38 is enough heavier that you will notice it Pocket Carrying it. As I shoot my revolvers quite a bit, I would still get the LCR 357 as it is more pleasant to shoot 38 Specials through than the LCR 38.

In my opinion the SP101 is a Great Concealed Carry Belt Gun. As long as you get a good belt holster like a Lobo Enhanced Pancake to carry it in, and have no intentions of Pocket Carrying it at all. You will love it.
The SP101 fits in the catagory that I refer to as "SHOOTABLE". It is large enough to get a good grip on. It is heavy enough to soak up recoil. It is small enough to conceal carry on the belt. With a 3" barrel you have enough sight radius to hit reasonably well with it as a woods packing gun. It can be tuned as sweet as anything else on the market. It takes J Frame speed loaders, which includes the J Frame Jet Loader a best kept secret.

The sights are not the only improvement on a WC GP100. The beveling of the cylinder, etc are also nice improvements.

I would be a happy camper if Ruger would put the Adjustable Sight 3" GP100 back in the catalog. With factory beveling would be even better.

Stumbled across a SS 3inch on armlist. just got it yesterday. Wow!!! now i know what everyone talks about balance in hand. this thing is sweet!!! the sights don't seem to bad. i won't get a chance to take it out to the range until this coming wednesday. Now i have a 6 inch and wanted a 4 inch but if this 3 shoots like i think it will then I am really going to be in a dilema on my next one. I would like the 4 inch just because i think i would want the added velocity and then maybe just maybe sell off the 6 inch. but who knows. the feel of the longer barrel is not that bad but the 3 inch just sits in your hand. i had the same feeling with the 4 inch redhawk. can't wait to take it to polish the trigger parts put lighter spring kit in and take it through its paces. deal for the LCR fell through so now its this or an sp101 for possible ccw. i am goind to take my time with the next purchase unless something just too good to be true comes along. dam this is a nice gun....but then so is the security six...no wait the sp101... awe hell....LOL!!!

The gun is HUGE in comparison with my .357 LCR.

Given that the WC has a buttery smooth and light DA, plus a very light and crisp SA
trigger pull.

I think with the right IWB holster the WC will be a great carry gun.

Yes, the best trigger I've ever encountered on a RUGER DA revolver!

Sights are great on it as well.
