but they do sell uppers in .223, 300 AAC and 6.5 Grendel at Walmart.com
Last night I saw that I could get an Acme brand (Wile E Coyote's all time favorite retailer) 6.5 Grendel in a 16" upper with keymod forearm and Bolt carrier group for $349.00 with free shipping. They also had magazines and other parts.
Go figure, retail $ are more important than political correctness

Yet you were pausing their wares... Go figure, saving a $ is more important than avoiding those that worry about political correctness. ;)

If you're considering buying an upper, I would suggest looking at Palmetto State Armory. Their inventory changes daily, and their delivery times can be all over the place, but their quality is good and their sales can't be beat. I bought a "blem" upper for $229 on sale when I didn't even have a lower to put it on -- then, two weeks later, bought a blem lower for $129 and had a very nice sub-$400 rifle.

Palmeto State Armory is great, not only fantastic deals on arms, but also great deals on factory ammo at times.

Palmetto does not sell 6.5 Grendel yet, but I was amazed at some of their prices

Keep checking back. As I said before, their inventory changes daily, and what they may not have today may be on sale Monday!

10" pistol upper with standard AR forearm for $169 in .223 was tempting but I don't have money to do a SBR permit to put it on my rifle lower

I don't have it, either -- which is why my plan is to get a short-barreled upper and a pistol lower with arm brace. Of course, it is illegal to shoulder that combo -- which is why I'll NEVER do that. Really. I promise.

Don't hold your breath. After having lots of choices in 6.8 SPC uppers and accessories a few years ago, they have virtually abandoned it now. Lots of items that have been "Temporarily Out of Stock" for months and no uppers at all in that group.

I understand not sitting on inventory when you have bigger sellers but that is definitely what they are concentrating on.

Palmetto State Armory went belly up for getting crossways with the feds! On another note, I could have sworn I saw an AR15 at my local WalMart sporting goods dept a while back, but wouldn't swear in court to it.

Since when? I was in their Columbia store on Saturday, and received their regular e-mail sales flyer yesterday.

Walmart is completely anti-American. I would not buy rubber bands there. If you want firearms and ammunition, choose a local gunstore. They will not betray you or cheap you as Walmart does. Some principles are more important than saving a few dollars.

Palmetto State Armory just had big brown drop off several of their products for me Thursday. I spoke via phone with CS on Friday afternoon in regards to their FN "machine gun steel" barrels. You may be thinking of Stag Arms founder Mark Malkowski and they didn't go belly up but they were forced to sell & they sold out to White Wolf
out of Miami FL. Mark Malkowski the founder isn't going to jail thankfully but he is not allowed to be a owner manager manufacture or possess an FFL. It could have gone so much more harshly for him & the company.

Another recommendation for Palmetto State Armory here.
After hearing great things about their products all over the place I decided to take advantage of their Christmas sale they had. Outstanding price for their products. Especially their uppers. Top tier quality that will make guys at the shooting range ask where you got it. When you tell them what you paid for it, they won't believe you. The trick is to take advantage of the sales and at the same time surf around for promo codes and use them.
