.

A fellow came into a gun store yesterday with an older stainless Vaquero from which he had removed the front sight. Did not understand the reasoning, but there it was. The gun was in excellent shape other than the removed front sight. He wanted to trade the gun.

It was a 5½ inch in 45 Colt.

If it was cheap enough to purchase...

How much would it cost to replace the front sight as it orginally was ?

What would you think of a blued front sight on a stainless Vaquero ?

You might want to consider having a dovetail cut and replace the sight that way. That would give you a bit of adjustability.

I would check it over very carefully. Sounds like he could have been using it for fast draw.

I think that a blued front sight on a stainless Vaquero would be perfect.
The mirror polished factory front sight is nearly useless.

Thanks guys. Frankly, I don't care how it looks. It gives me a decent sight picture and the ability to adjust windage.

Once I get her filed in for my load, it's done!

It's a .44 Mag.
