I have lived in at least 5 counties in KY, in Idaho for a few months, and in WY for a few months. Nowhere I have ever lived did I have much difficulty with the USPS as I have here in Shepherdsville, KY. Yesterday was expecting a package from Midway USA. Got home, nothing. I went on USPS website and they said the package had been forwarded? Forwarded to where, I have no forwarding address. Managed to get to the Post Office before they closed at 4:30 and after about 20 minutes of looking for my package the fella finally did find it. He had no explanation as to why my package was not delivered, as my name and address were correct. At least I got my package. I ordered (I am pretty sure it was from a fella off of this forum) a set of grips for a S&W once and they sent the friggin things to Amazon.com fullfillment center!!! I wasn't even going to say anything to him about it, but he asked and I told him and he graciously gave me my money back. Wasn't his fault at all, he did everything right, just the PO has a bunch of moroons working for them apparently. I could go on and on. Bills that my wife never got. Bills I never got. Then the next month I would have a double water bill. Sometimes I will get the neighbors mail. It is frustrating beyond belief! I have emailed the USPS several times about how inept the local PO is. Don't even get a reply. Just felt the need to rant.

You are not wrong, locally ours sucks also. I've posted before that literally not a week will go by without receiving somebody's
wrongly delivered mail. Our address plainly displayed not only on the sides of the box but also the door.
Complaints to the local post office are useless.

My experiences are on both sides of the issues.

My house,, is located very close to the County line. It's in one County,, and I have a rural address. It's located 9 miles from the closest PO in that County. And the hub for the County is another 4-5 miles away.
Poor service, damaged mail, lost mail, etc.

Makes me glad I kept our long time family address.

I was raised almost 5 miles from my current house,, in a different County. My Dad got our PO box when he got here after WWII. It's been in my family since. After my mom died,, I kept the PO box active. I still use it,, A LOT. It's our primary mail service. The PO is right on the way to where we go most of the time,, so stopping by is easy. The service there is superb. Rare is the time we have issues, and those have always been due to the previous locations prior to stuff getting to my PO.
Just this past Saturday,, about 4 pm,, a holiday weekend. I stopped by to check my mail. I was expecting a package. In my box was a notice of a package. (The package bins were full.) One of the clerks there hear me open my box & all, saw me and hollered at me through the wall/door; "Hang on, I'll get your package."
It was a timeframe they are closed & she was in there doing some catch-up work. Yet, she was kind enough to get me my package,, instead of me having to wait until Tuesday.
And yesterday, as I stopped by to mail something,, a different clerk, came out of the office when he heard me at the counter. He asked if I was going to be in there any more this week. He is moving out of state & just wanted to let me know. He's a super nice guy,, and a fellow Vet.

I get very good service there. But my actual home county,, the people who work at those places have not always been very good, nor do they care when a complaint is registered. And my rural carrier,, well,,,, I've had 6 different ones since we moved here. So far,, not one is what I'd call good & dependable.

The 'new' USPS is very different than the 'old' Post Office. I was a 3rd generation Post Office/USPS employee(retired over 15 years now). I literally grew up in the Post Office. The 'service' part of the agency has gone by the wayside. This really started about the time Iaccoca quit Chrysler and was appointed Postmaster General and has continued.
Dad told me that if you're gonna jump ship, do it close to shore and that's exactly what I did. USPS offered me a good retirement deal at a time when I was at the end of the line w/o a chance of improving my position and I didn't think twice.
My current rural carrier is a guy I started and helped get his position. I get exemplary service from him but his replacements are often less than stellar. This sort of performance is becoming the norm.

We’ve got a cluster for our neighborhood. Never know what you’ll get or not get. Things are good about 85% of the time, but whoever they get for a sub on that 6th day where the regular driver has a day off is usually unaware of the finer points of cluster boxes. Things get put in other people’s boxes more often than they should.
For those UPS/USPS package deliveries, if it’s too big to fit in the parcel box of the cluster, instead of going the extra 50 yards to my house, they’ll bring it 6 miles back to the Post Office, where I’ll have to go pick it up. Sometimes, when I’m lucky, UPS won’t forward to the PO, but will deliver my package on their truck, since they’re only 2 miles away.

The worse thing that happens to a excellent rural mail carrier, is they will someday retire. Every time I get a USPS carrier trained, they retire or move to another job. Same with FedX and UPS, no one wants my route because of the amount of deliveries, many to businesses with heavy 65# packages. I am at the end of the route, deliveries are made in late afternoon even as late as 8 PM.
