Talked to the service rep and they sent to the assembly line area for repair. They have had it a week and can take 2-3 weeks to receive it back.
My luck it will be November before I get to fire a first shot ever thru this "new" gun.
2-3 weeks...that's a lot of dreaming time of getting to shot some hot .45 Colt loads through the thing!
Well we'll see if the Mernickel holster will beat it here!

This is one reason why I bought a 2006 vintage used (like new) Alaskan. It seems the quality control of Ruger has been slipping thru the years. That said, I will buy the new .480 Bisley when I can!

I picked up both, the new Bisley and a SRH. The SRH will be looking to get the Toklat treatment, sans the odd looking slab-sided, skinny barrel.

Well check them out real good if you get a new one!

Meanwhile...I might stop by and see if my excellent shape .44 Mag SBH Hunter is still sitting in the used gun show case. I dare them to ask how my new Alaskan is doing!
You know it wouldn't take a minute for the shop, and it's well staffed, to give every new gun that comes in a quick look for basic details that might be out of spec. as it would be worth an extra 20 bucks.
In the air rifle world a leading sales company will check out a batch of 10 guns and ship you the best of that batch for an extra 10 bucks!
It just bugs me.
