"Jessica Hunt, a friend of Pirtle's, said Pirtle's friends want answers to why he was shot.

'He did fire a couple of shots, but they gunned him down at the lake' Hunt said."


Well, gee whiz! Those Marshals sure are sensitive!

See that stuff all the time around Baltimore. Cops shot a girl after she fired a shotgun at them and the neighbors are saying what a nice person she was and that they didn't have to shot her. They were there to serve a "failure to appear" warrant for her.

Bob, TN has been in the national news way to much lately.
Seems we are bad violent folk.
I know west TN is rough as well as Nashville, in the eastern part we is good folk just like ya'll. I reckon we don't have the gang problem like ya'll do. It is giving TN a bad rep...............
Hell, that might no be so bad, might keep some of them tourist from moving here. At least in my end of the state. I was born here and 95% of my neighbors are outsiders. Mostly good folks wanting to enjoy our life style. Still, always smart ass trash up to no good move here to take advantage of us rubes. They don't stay long as we don't put up with their crap.

I find it AMAZING that these people who pull a gun, or discharge a gun at the police, are not shot & killed more often. But even MORE amazing are the "neighbors & friends" who fail to understand & accept the FACT that an officer of the law is sworn to protect the people from just such acts. Stray bullets from thugs firearms can & will hurt innocent people. And a cop is NOT a target to be shot at & excused for that behavior. These friends & neighbors seem to think it's OK to shoot at cops, or brandish a firearm, or resist violently & NOT suffer any serious consequences.
It's called self defense, and in the case of the LEO's,,, it's also protecting the public.

It's SIMPLE; "Comply with orders from the cops & argue your side of the story in a court of law."

I was thinking about that last night after watching the forty-eleven-teenth
version of LE chasing a BG, . . with . . K9 units there as it starts, and the
BG then whining about getting bit. "Youz din HAVE ta do dat!"
Only once have I seen the officer then say "You didn't have to run, did
you? If you had just followed instructions you would be more comfortable
now."

I literally laugh at every one of the BGs that get used as a chew-toy and
then whine about getting bit. Those getting shot can be even more
entertaining, especially when it is with a tazer. ALL have the same
mental disorder, they think they can do what ever they want and not be
held responsible.

It still sounds like a bunch that have never learned manners.
AND are gradually finding out THAT HURTS!

We were a bit bored last night & watched some "Southern Justice" & "Alaska State Troopers" on TV. I like it for the COMEDY of seeing how stupid some people are.
I did hear a lot of the "complaining" by the thugs when taken down hard about them not having to do that. But I also heard a lot of the cops say they shouldn't have run, or fought, or whatever.
And I laughed at the ones who said things like; "I prayed to God for just one more day before I'd give myself up. I've done that for 3 months now, and today is Sunday & I didn't go to church & I guess he didn't hear me today." Another one; The cops had been after a married couple for a year, and when they finally caught up with them at a friends house, they said; "We were just waiting on y'all as we knew you were coming."
Or the guy who said; "I was about to go to my daughters B-Day party & then going to give myself up. All I needed was 5 more hours." (This was after they had been after him for a while.)
But the funniest one, on Alaska State Troopers, the trooper pulled this girl for driving erratically, who failed the field sobriety test. As she was being put in the car, she said: "Man, Alaska State Troopers is my favorite show & now I'm on it!"

It seems that all they can do is "Lie & deny" when caught. Even when they KNOW they are going to be arrested, searched, or whatever.

So, when a thug decides to pull a firearm, or discharge a firearm, or whatever, the folks around should KNOW there will be return force & usually multiplied.

I thought the same thing when I caught a video on TV of a young punk, I think it was in New York City and he is surrounded by about 6 or 8 cops and decides to fight it out.... you would think they would have enough sense to realize this is not going to end well.

Okay to be honest and tell a story... the one time I was arrested... almost 40 years ago.... the cop woke me up in my home, middle of the night, and told me to go get in the back of his patrol car... I was actually sitting in the back of the car when he called me back inside because he forgot to cuff me... I thought about taking off... no way that fat cop, or the narc who was half asleep in the front seat could catch me back then... I thought about it for about a second and then realized that even if I got away... what then?

Every time I've had contact with an LEO they have been polite and professional... maybe it's just me?

As a long-time LEO I know that MACE and Tasers are not always effective. That's why I always carried my revolver and a Nightstick.

On the radio news this morning, reporting a police shooting in our neighboring county, it was reported that one of the County Deputies, called to the scene of a violent assault, shot a man after he refused to drop his gun, even after other deputies had used a taser and mace on him.

I never had a taser when I was on duty but there were numerous times when a can of Mace did not stop a felon who was high on drugs and/or alcohol. I never had to shoot one of these but I often used my nightstick after after drenching them with Mace, to put them down long enough to cuff them. I would have shot if they had a gun or knife against me. Just the threat of using a taser or Mace is usually effective against a sober person, but all bets are off against a dope head or drunk.
