Trigger sp101

I've got a used sp101 subby. I don't like the trigger on it. I've it is popular choice to change it out. Any suggestions on what to change it too? Also is it hard to do yourself or should I take it to a gunsmith?

I did mine myself. I used Wolff Springs & polished up some parts. The single action pull is great, the double action pull improved alot. It's no tuned S&W but it'll serve its purpose. Do a search on you tube on how to do it. It's not hard at all.

I went with a 10lb. hammer spring & left the stock return spring in.

If you're at all mechanically capable, the instructions provided in the links above are easy to follow and will yield great results! The SP101 is easy to take apart and get back together, and just a little polishing with Flitz or extra fine sandpaper (800, 1000, 1200, 1500 grit) and some Wolff springs will make the trigger smoother and lighter.

open it up, hose out all the factory goo...very lightly oil the hinge points, then dry fire the snot out of it. The dry fire will marry up and smooth the contact surfaces, the trigger work will help your muscle coordination. After several sessions like that, clean it out again and you can put in the one step down Wolf springs and be amazed at the smoothness of the trigger. Going too light on the mainspring and trigger return spring will cause light strikes and timing issues... been there, done that.
