Why are some of the transfer bars flat, and some stepped at the top facing the hammer?. i noticed it when i was removing the pinch on a couple of my ruger revolvers, thanks, George.

I have a few Ruger single actions and have had them apart , What is the pinch that I see mentioned ?

Basically...The New Vaqueros will have the heavier top transfer bar.....
The Vaquero, Blackhawks, Bisley's will have the flat tops being....XR3 red
type frames. I believe that when the New Vaqueros came out the
transfer bars were beefed up in that top area........There are threads here
on the transfer bar pinch and it usually is with the thicker top transfer bars
that are a bit off & being thicker to allow the hammer to hit the frame at the
same time the bar bottoms out on the frame after hitting the pin...easy fix
though......start here:

and Flatgate's solution here too:

My Two NM Flat Top Blackhawks has the Steel XR3 Grip Frame with the Beefed up Transfer Bar.

My other Blued Blackhawks, Single-Six has the Aluminum XR3-RED GF and my SS Blackhawk has the "Regular" Tranfer Bar.............................

And yes, The two FT BH with the beefed up Transfer Bar Pinches a tad............................
