Do itchy and painful mosquito bites make you crazy? I mean nuts enough to make the wound raw from abrasion with clothing and scratching?

Well, this morning I was trying desperately to ignore a bite I got when like a bolt of lightning then struck me! Could oral analgesic pain reliever for severe tooth aches and gum pain help a mosquito bite? I looked all over the web and found zilch, nada on the subject.

A dozen or more years ago I had a spate of gum pain and to help with it I bought a tube of extra strength Anbesol and hoped that somewhere in the house I still had it and luckily I did. I figured that if it's safe for gums inside the mouth, it HAD to work on bug bites and EUREKA! this stuff stopped the pain and itch in 15 minutes!!!

So try this on pesky mosquito bites!

I’m O+ wife is O+. I don’t get bit much but my wife is a constant source of blood for the damn things. When shes bit she also has bad reactions( severe itching and swelling site of bite). Rh doesn’t seem to be a factor in our case.

You can heat up a spoon by running hot water over it. Apply the hot, but not hot enough to burn, spoon to the bite. The heat is said to destroy the protein that causes the itch. Not sure about the science of it...but it works for me.

I have read that mosquitoes pursue you because of your carbon dioxide expulsion when you breathe. Seems to me has some sense because when I’m in my storage area working with some tools, they’ll home in on me even if the door is only cracked but a little bit. There’s the old tale that eating a lot of garlic, keeps them away. I eat a lot of garlic, but sometimes they drive me crazy buzzing around my ears and trying to fly up my nose.
I haven’t had too bad luck this year, but if I get something like a mosquito bite or an ant bite I just use hydrocortisone cream.

Yes, I've used 'oral analgesic' and have used 'New Skin' to seal the itching bump. Doesn't always work but I convince myself it is better.
BTW, I think today is the first time I've seen a mosquito while on the deer stand.

No need for me. I learned years ago that the little biters hate the taste and smell of B vitamins, mostly B3 and B6. I take a B multi every day anyway. I can can sit next to someone getting chewed alive and never get bitten.. Another tip for the beach: Sand flies hate Skin So soft. Unfortunately, while it stops the biting it doesn't stop them from buzzing around you and being annoying.

Here’s what I use. Cheap, and fast acting.

I use a lighter to get the spoon hotter than hot water and touch the spoon down until it hurts, then repeat. It also works with spider bites

Back in school, i got busted for having a mini binaca blast in my jacket. The only purpose for that is to cover up cigarette smoke! The school nannies told me, so you are illegally smoking!
I told them the alcohol knocks down skeeterbite itch. They dident believe me. Hand satiniser spray works, too, i discovered during early in covid, when i got a brainwave. Heard the warm spoon thing years ago, but dont always have one handy, so tried friction. Hey, heat is heat. And it works better than bookmatches under a spoon...

Don't know if baking soda and water will work for mosquito bites but it may be worth a try. Make up a thick paste and smear it on the affected area. It might sting a bit but it might give some relief.

DISCLAMER: While the following is not medical advice there are some who have testified to the following including me.

Don't know if it will work with mosquito bites or not but I have used a poultice to draw out bee, wasp, scorpion, snake bites, etc. I have made the poultice out of tea bags, coffee grounds, dirt, etc. and with just enough water to moisten the material so that it will hold together (I have literally used dirt and spit when out in the woods for immediate relief). Place the poultice over the bite and keep it moist for at least 30 minutes or even hours if possible. This poultice will wick the poisons out through the bite. It will immediately take the burning sensation away from the bee and wasp stings and will also help stop swelling if applied right away.
WARNING: If one is allergic to any type of bit this should help but an EPIPEN Pen may still be needed, yet when an EPIPEN Pen is not immediately available this will help lessen the effects of the bits.

WARNING: TRY THE FOLLOWING AT YOUR OWN RISK:

Some also say that if you shock the area of a snake bite with a car 12 Volt coil the poison will turn into protein. I have never tried this personally but have talked to a guy who said he did such and it worked. Might work with other type bits too, yet the results are not in (need more genie pigs to volunteer). Perhaps a stun gun/taser might work as well. But got to wonder why doctors do not use such as a treatment though.
DANGER: If anyone does decide to try this treatment get a qualified electrician to apply it. Some electricity is very deadly and not to be played with.

A common weed called plantain makes a good poultice. Just chew it up and apply to the bite.

When I was a Boy Scout. I went away to camp. Got absolutely eaten alive by mosquitoes.

Then for the rest of the summer they wouldn’t bother me at all. Everyone around me getting bit but I wouldn’t get a single bite.

I had a weed wacker that ran on propane. It attracted mosquitoes in swarms. I think because of the CO.

I started using citropane in it. It was citronella mixed with propane. Meant for tiki torches.

Afterbite used to be the bomb. Recently, having been bit, I bought an applicator. I immediately noticed it didn't smell like Ammonia like the old stuff did. Next I noticed that it was completely ineffective. I'm guessing someone once licked the applicator (or something equally stupid) resulting in the company having to change the formula. And, just like that it went from effective to a waste of money

I use Hydrocortisone, max strength that I buy at Walmart (Equate). I moved to SC 8 years ago and love to sit out on my front porch. A few years ago I got bit on my little finger by the mother of all mosquitoes. After 45 minutes it started to hurt and itch like crazy and I was in such pain (even after 3 applies of Hydrocortisone) that I thought I'd go down to the hospital and have my little finger cut off. Of course, they wouldn't do that but that is the way I was thinking under all the pain and itch. Before I left the pain and itch relieved a bit, but it took an hour and the 3 applications of Hydrocortisone. Now every time I sit out on the porch I wear heavy gloves made from deer skin.
