Going to try out several popular JHP brands in a brand new Security-9:

Federal HST Premium Law Enforcement 124 gr
Gold Dot Duty +P 124 gr
Hornaday Critical Defense 115 gr

Do you think there's a point after so many rounds at which function and/or accuracy would be affected without at least a cursory cleaning before continuing the testing?

Well, yeah, after couple thousand rounds. I'd open it up after hundred or 2 just to see how much carbon, etc. was in the reciever/action/feed ramp, and wipe off any with a dry rag/patch. Wouldn't do anything with the bore.

Water jugs are a good way to see how bullets will perform next a 4x4 then maybe 1/4" mild steel.
