Like many here, I suspect, I grew up not knowing anything about hearing protection. Many guns, mostly shotguns, and lots of loud rock concerts. Somewhere around 40 years ago I bought a S&W Model 57 .41 Magnum 8 3/8" barrel as a direct result of Clint Eastwood's 'Dirty Harry' character (I got a .41 just to be different). I had access to an old gravel pit and used to shoot there. I remember once I went to the pit and shot an entire box (50 rounds back then) in one session. I really couldn't hear much for three days!
Anyway I've been dealing with tinnitus for a long time. Most of the time I ignore it, just background noise, but sometimes the ringing really gets to me.
So, I recently called the tinnitus help line. There was no answer. It just kept ringing.
