On this day, September 2, 1945, the Japanese delegation came aboard the battleship USS Missouri, anchored in Tokyo Bay, and signed the documents of surrender ending World War II. General of the Army Douglas MacArthur presided over the proceedings.
Later, referring to atomic warfare, Gen. MacArthur stated that "science has outmoded warfare." War has not been outmoded, but the way war is waged has changed. The Lord Jesus Christ stated there will be "wars and rumors of wars" as long as the World stands.
As George Washington put it, "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty."*
Let us, as a nation, never, ever let our guard down.
