I DO NOT understand how THAT can be called "CUSTOM" gun at all. The gripframe is a straight swap, those Jay Scott stocks are plastic, worthless for anything other than kindling, and the sight insert is of no consequence really. It is nothing but a NM 45Colt sixgun with a few changes, and that is not 'custom'. I do not see how it can be hardly worth more than a brand new NIB Ruger Blackhawk 45COLT that hasn't been messed with.
And so it goes..

I totally agree and I made no comment about the supposed "custom" part of the listing...and I did not specify this, but my comment was about the metal...and it is beautiful....to me.

If you have a problem with the description or the parts the guy used...you ain't got to like it...or the way it looks.

To each...his own.

Never fear, curmudgeons aplenty around here.

Jim Luke , I agree with you. It is a very nice piece.
It sounds like someone got up on the grumpy side of the bed this morning.
I believe there are different levels of custom. Each to his own.Beauty is in the eye of the BEERholder as they say.

I'd say there's a difference between "customized" and "personalized". Yes, It's a semantic distinction, but words matter.

Otherwise I could "customize" my car by changing the tires/wheels.

HI, Looks COOL. Just got a one in 45acp/ 45 colt. Fun gun but not one to shoot RHINO roller hot loads from and that square trigger guard hurts looking at it.

It's OK I don't think brass looks right on that gun and I really hate that black line along the edge of the grips, I'll pass.

The guy says it's been in his safe for 30 years. The grips do look a bit odd TO ME, with the wood spacer. The front sight has had custom work by someone having to file & install a red insert.
A true custom? No.
A brass g/f is worth a few hundred even if aftermarket. Add in the value of a normal Blackhawk, and you will see the true value here.

I'm with Jim, yes, a "looker' and nice job for a 'new model "shorty"....as for "custom" it is to the guy who paid any money to some shop or smith to "customize" it to his specs....."personalized"?? it would have his initials etched or engraved some where on the gun, hell even on those Jay Scott grips...we don't know what it may have started out as, but bottom line a fine looking new model......

I'm guessing he's about to discover that "custom" is, indeed, in the eye of the beholder and one is highly unlikely to get one's expenses back when selling such a piece.

What I find most odd is no shipping to California or New York, but he is in California.

customized? yes.
collector gun? not that much.
cheesy hidden reserve auction? deal breaker for me.

I once had a bright red Corvette to which someone had mounted a chrome luggage rack... "customized", yes. But sad...

Not my cuppa joe but who cares. And why are the stocks worthless? Do they rattle about? Do they not function? Good Lord, not all of us need or even want grips that cost as much as our guns!
