As I sit here watching the snow pile up I just wanted to tell all of you guys and gals how much I like it here. The conversations are great and even the political debate is fun. My wife asked about CCW a couple of months back which lead me to research the LCR which lead me here. I've owned many Rugers over the years and I usually sell them to get something different from time to time so my collection stays around 6 or 7, that way I have a happy home. I only frequent one other forum, clubchopper.com. I work in the auto industry by trade but I love motorcycles(I have four), shooting sports, and hockey. On clubchopper I really can be a big help because of 35 years of in depth experience, here, I can offer up some help here and there but I'm really gaining a significant amount of knowledge from current and old threads. So, thanks for having me. :D

This is a great forum, and you are very welcome here. About that advice; if it's about Rugers, it's the best. Anything else---well, it is the internet.

I also appreciate this forum a lot. If I want to see constructive discussion and useful information on guns I like a lot, Here it is!

This is a fantastic forum with great guys and gals. A number of years back I bought a Ruger GP100 off a guy locally and we started talking guns and the like. After a while he says, "You ever check out Ruger forum?". I told him no and he laughed and said, "I think you'd like it there." Well he was spot on. There aren't many other forums I frequent and for good reason. I too post but tend to learn a lot more than I can offer.

I've loved this forum ever since I found it !!
Yeah sometimes me and another will go round and round, BUT if we was to meet in person, I'd share a cup of coffee (Tea for me !) and maybe even a burger and fries and talk everything BUT politics.

A wonderful 'internet family' resides here! Good people, even those with whom I disagree on the odd topic! ;) I cannot recall a Ruger question being raised that wasn't answered... Occasionally with a bit of ... family squabbling! ;)

Well I joined way back when. I was wanting a gun for my birthday and before I found this forum, it was between a Smith and Wesson 357 and a GP100. I bought the Ruger and then in reading about it found rugerforum. What a great site. I have learned way more than I thought I would about guns. Without this forum i wouldn't have started reloading or even shooting as much as I do.

I joined a number of years ago after acquiring my first handgun for self defense. This forum and its members have been welcoming and offered me a wealth of knowledge. Never once has anyone done or said anything to make me feel like I was an idiot for asking all the newbie questions I have asked over the years. They made me feel at home and have educated me as well. I would have to say this is an exceptional group of kind folks who hang out here, and I thank them for their kindness.

Just perhaps, while others apply, I consider a key word to be "civility"............"IT" remains to be the manner in which we converse and treat one another. May it ever be so.......... 8)

I do agree, and sadly, civility is sorely lacking in so many parts of our society these days.

Stay warm and safe in your Minnesota frozen tundra.........I am a transplanted Minnesota native, don't ya know! :D

I consider myself a motorcycle guy first, and a gun guy second, but this is my favorite forum on the internet. As others have said, the "community" of this forum is respectful, knowledgable and not without real humor. Some of us are more sharing than others, and I think of this forum as a "safe" place where I can put into words some of my personal fears and thoughts without worry about ridicule, and often with replies of good advice and a sympathetic ear. I'm not sure if I found this forum because I really have confidence and admiration for Ruger firearms, or if because of this forum I have become a big fan of Rugers. I am not really a collector, only owning nine handguns and no long guns at this time, but of my nine handguns, four are Rugers. And more importantly for me, the two that I have in my carry "rotation", the ones that I count on to defend my life and well being every day, are both Ruger semi-autos (my LC9s and my LCP). I'm pretty sure, however, that even if for some reason I decided to get rid of all my Rugers, and just rely upon my S&W revolvers, I would still be a part of this great forum.

Well, my friend, you have just really screwed the pooch! This forum is an inhibitor. It forces you to buy OM 44s, Brassies, Flattops, Old model single sixes, and the weirdest thing I have ever bought here. ??? I just don't know. Get out while you still can. It is a cult of gunanality. You have been warned.

Enjoy the forum, just stay out of the classifieds. There is some really beautiful stuff there and it will be your succubus.

Ok, go ahead, enjoy your freedom to buy a pistol if you want.

Haha +1

To be a little more serious, the thing that I think makes this the best forum on the net is the diversity of the folks. We have doctors, lawyers, accountants, pilots, farmers, ranchers, fire fighters, police officers, chemists, scientists, historians, veterinarians, gunsmiths, retailers and hundreds more (oh and aircraft mechanics :D). I think this makes for great discussions on everything important. It just gives the forum members a chance to speak and learn of things they haven't seen or experienced from people who have. Just my opinions of course.

Yep, mostly a pretty decent bunch. Like any large crowd in a real lounge, sometimes you hear a comment or two that makes you raise an eyebrow. Once or twice, I have had hurt feelings because someone said something that insulted my faith, or my career, or something else. I don't get into it with others, but I might pout a little. OTOH, I have had members say a prayer for me when I was injured and boost me up, maybe even from a couple of members that insulted me too. I really don't post a lot. Once Ruger Forum somehow lost me, and hundreds of posts, and I had to re-register, but I come every day to catch up with the crowd here.

Well, I've been hanging around here a while. I've seen it change owners a few times, and yet,,, the members have kept it a pleasant place. Yes, there have been some people have come & gone that didn't want to act like adults, or who failed to understand that the majority of us prefer polite, intelligent sharing of knowledge. We prefer to accept members who may be different than us, yet, at the same time appreciate Rugers, as long as they act like responsible adults. Bullies, whiners, bashers, scammers, etc will never last because even the most diverse people here are good enough to not allow such disrespect.

Have we had heated discussions here? Absolutely. But,,, I have seen many public apologies made by members who realized they were detracting from the heart of this Forum. Often,,, it's the political section that seems to get folks riled up the most,,,, yet, even there,,,, if things get too bad,,, gentle reminders often diffuse the issue. No place is perfect,,, yet this place does survive because the members want it to, and act accordingly.

I've seen good folks who used to be very active choose to back away or quit because of the attitude a couple of members have towards them. And I've made some life long friends because of this place.

But by far,,, it's the best place to learn about Ruger firearms & stuff, with the largest diverse population of members who can & will share what they know.
