I have been looking at some old Model Blackhawks but I don't know if I want to spend the money on another Flat top or just a regular style OM .357. I never really noticed since I have owned both (but not at the same time) the difference in frame size and handling between the Flat top and standard .357's. I know I do want a 4 5/8 inch barrel.

The "original" 3 screw .357 Flattops are the same sizes as are the "post '62" versions that have the "rear sight" protecting "ears".

So, what's your problem?

I'm not a collector in the sense that collector's are collectors, so to me, the only meaningfull difference between the flatop and "eared" models is that I prefer the flatop's XR3 grip-frame.
All but one of my OM's have been retrofitted with flatop grip-frames. I've also been known to buy an old grip-frame and not even have a gun to attach it to yet.
While doing those types of things does drive-up the "bottom line" cost of my "shooters", it has proven to be more cost effective than the paying the extra that a flatop cost.

We all like what we like, so we pays our money and makes our choice.
