Maybe something tactical and will also be used for small critters. So what are my options ? I`m kinda torn between a 10/22 and Marlin model 60 so convince me on what`s a better choice. :D

What you buy as a Marlin is about all you can do to them where as a Ruger the accessory possibilities are almost endless.

Right. Buy a 10/22 and you can shoot it all your life right out of the box, or spend the price of a nice Anschutz rifle "accessorizing" it to within an inch of its life.

I have a Marlin 60 that hardly ever gets shot. My 10/22, however, goes to the range every time I do and sees about 300 rounds fired every time. Delightful gun.

OTOH, I have a Savage MkII bull barrel bolt gun that'll shoot rings around a stock 10/22. I put a RifleBasix trigger on it, but didn't have to, and probably wouldn't go that route again. Plus, these days this gun comes with Savage's Accutrigger. A bit more expensive, but it all comes down to what you want to do. Will you get more enjoyment out of "building" and accessorizing the 10/22, or are you looking for the cheapest way to get really small groups? You can't take the bolt gun out with a 50 round mag and blast away, either. There's no shame in any of those things, it's just what you want to do.

Right. I have a CZ 452 bolt rifle that's much more accurate than my 10/22, but truth to tell, I don't shoot it much. I figger I'll have plenty of time to shoot that when the marxists outlaw semiautos, and/or the price of even the cheapest .22 bulk ammo gets to 25c a shot.

 Yup, to each their own. I have a Marlin 60, a 10/22, a Savage MkII with accutrigger, and way too many CZ bolt actions.
Nothing wrong with any of the above .. all are great choices.

If you want an inexpensive, fairly accurate basic rifle you can do a few mods on and don't mind a 15 round tubular magazine then the Marlin 60 can't be beat.

If you would like an inexpensive, fairly accurate basic rifle you would like to do a ton of mods on to turn it in to a personalized tack driver if you decide you have the cash to spend on it, then the 10/22 can't be beat.

Or you could just do like me and slap a scope and some paint on the 10/22 and call it "modded"

fancy picker,

that is one more awesome camo job... great work!

Thanks, blume!

It was an accident  I only had the darn thing for 2 days and put a huge gouge in the stock and decided to sand and refinish it.
Then I got to reading around on these dang gun forums and next thing you know I was diving into my first camo job.

Watch it, 10-22's get addicting real quick. Bought 2 in 2 weeks, first one will be a trail/hiking gun so light and reliable is what I want. New one will get stock, scope, mag release, buffer job. I already modified the bolt release, much easier and simple to do. Need a winter project and the 10-22 fills the bill.

Actually the dumbocrats have done nothing to cause the ammo prices to rise and become tough to get. It was the paranoid jackasses that went crazy buying up all the ammo. The Dems have not done anything to gun owner's rights and don't plan too, the NRA will see to that.
Shame that the nutjobs have made it more expensive for level headed gun owners, like me, to enjoy some time at the range. They all deserve a boot up their inbred asses before returning to their compounds.
The liberals are to blame for a lot of things but the blame here rests with "the sky is falling" imbeciles who ruin it for everyone.
