I watched "The Union" on Netflix last night. Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry star. There is a scene where Mike (Wahlberg) is given a firearm and given a quick demonstration from the expert, showing that there is a round in the chamber and 14 more in the clip, 15 in the spare. I had high hopes for the movie but was disappointed.

In most instances I would agree. For a character that is playing a firearms expert in a high budget movie, I would expect them to use the correct term.

Well, there are pistols that take 17-round magazines, but I'm not aware of 17-round stripper clips.

I get tired of all the nonsense about Mag capacity. As a long time RO at my club, I see it so many times over and over of some guy trying to forcefully load the last round of a magazine into the advertised capacity. Lol, sometimes I get to thinking this guy might just pull a Hammer out of his range bag to get that last sucker in it. In the meantime the guy next to him has already placed 5 rounds into the head of his target.

Yeah, I watched it the other night, it was a typical Netflix movie. Wahlberg is always good and Halle @ 58, well is always good, Wahlberg has that good comedic/silly funny look on his face in movies like this and can pretty much play any part. Yeah, I picked up on the clip thing also and just went, oh well, typical, but moved on from it. Thought it dragged on a bit but it was a decent Sat night movie with the wife. JK Simmons is always good also. Ya really gotta look at what's coming out of Hollywood and such, not much good anymore or just remakes of old classics cuz nobody has an imagination anymore.
And to clear things up along with the couple items listed above the M1 uses a "clip" and it holds 8 rds, LOL!

Remember the Grendel 380? It had an internal mag you could load with stripper clips and was one of the first polymer pistols.

LOL, I'm old but don't remember that one. Not a clip-fed gun but I remember holding an HK squeeze cocker (P7) and thinking what a weird pistol. Should have bought 10 of em, LOL

If he's a felon, no. Neither can Trump although if he's elected he can control (to some extent) Nuclear Weapons, does that make sense? I gave up correcting the "clip" thing.

I believe that was the P310. It could be loaded with ten rounds using M16 strippers.

No. He requested a pardon but it never happened. And now he regrets even requesting one.

Regardless, off his wiki page: "Despite his felony conviction, which legally prohibits him from handling firearms, Wahlberg prepared for his role in Shooter by attending long-range shooting training at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute near Pahrump, Nevada. He was able to hit a target at 1,100 yards on his second day, a feat which usually takes weeks to achieve."

Front Sight is also culpable. But, marky mark is rich and famous so, the rules don't apply to him. Rules only apply to peons like you and me.

Grendel .380- didn't that have like a 30 lb trigger?
As for the movie- It was a 7 out of 10. Weak story like a lot of action movies, decent amount of action not technically too accurate but watchable.
