Is finding that perfect load. I am not there yet but have two loads that shows I am getting near. Best group is .450 and next is .650 three shots. Rifle is Winchester model 70 Supergrade, cal 338 WM with a Burris 2 X 7. So far I have tested five factory loads and 22 different reloads. Used six powders and five different bullets. Bench rest at 100 yds.

Just think of how much fun you've had,, and how much more you shot your rifle, and how much you learned in the process. It's ALL worth it!

Yes, working up a good load and getting lots of range time is the
reason I reload. In addition to having fun and meeting other shooters I think this hobby helps to keep an old man young.

I give myself a lot of time to develop a load for a specific gun. I'm about to start work on loads for a new 7mm-08 I intend to take to the hunt next Fall. Six months is about what it will take me. I'm trying combinations of three different bullets and three different powders. This makes it 9 combinations to start. Trying 4 loads for each will make it 36 combinations. Making 20 rounds of each of them makes it 720 rounds. That's why I give myself 6 months, and why I don't switch hunting guns too often.
