The poor old HiPoint finally gets some - well, not love - but at least some recognition. :)

Hi-Points are to firearms design what Olive Garden is to Italian food. They’ll get the job done and…that’s about it. No surprise, then, that Hi-Point’s guns rarely appear on the top of anyone’s want firearms list. Our reviews have been a mixed bag where HP’s guns are concerned. The C9 pistol didn’t fare well. But the 1095 TS 10mm carbine and the Yeet Cannon G1 did better. But there are at least three good reasons (besides their lifetime warranty) to buy one.

1. You can treat it mean and not worry about a post-DGU confiscation

No one will ever mistake a Hi-Point for a safe queen. They’re not known for their graceful good looks or elegant lines. You’ll never bring your BFF out to the garage, open the safe and brag on your new Desert Digital .45. That’s a good thing, not a bad thing.

Thanks to Hi-Points’ homeliness and low cost of acquisition you’re not gonna baby their guns. Use one as a truck gun. Shoot them, carry them, drop them, scratch them, run over them with the ATV. You’ll never shed a tear.

If, heaven forbid, you ever have to use a Hi-Point as a CCW to protect yourself from a bad guy, you won’t hesitate if a cop says “drop your weapon!” And you won’t be very heartbroken when the police confiscate it as evidence.

You’ll just go down to your local gun store or upcoming gun show and buy yourself a new one. Going to a lot of trouble to get the first one back just isn’t worth the time and effort. Ladies and gentlemen, the BIC lighter of guns.

I think the one thing that might make me hesitate is the accuracy. One of the reviews
for a 10mm carbine got two and one half inch groups at fifty yards.

The commonly used phrase is "fitness for purpose". I have never, nor will I ever, own a Hi Point anything. That said, their carbine is not intended for 200 yard shots at a prairie dog. If it reliably goes "bang" when you pull the trigger and can hit a bad guy square in the middle at 15 feet, it does just what it was intended to do.

I don't hate them. I did come close to buying one once. It was probably 12 or 13 years ago. I was at a gun show & there was a fellow there that had a table sat up that was loaded down with Hi-Points for $99. I was about to buy one when I asked myself whether there was something about that pistol that make me want it or if I was just going to buy it because it was cheap. I wound up walking away.

Most folks I have spoken to that have them say they work & work well. I find their carbines somewhat interesting. I do believe there is a lot more competition in the same price range as their pistols
than there was 10-12 years ago.

I got the 10mm carbine in digi-camo, lifetime warranty, goes bang everytime with any ammo I've used, not for precision shooting, more of a truck/fun gun, no regrets here.

The similarities between some firearms are beyond just ugly. :mrgreen:










Back in the seventies, I didn't have much money. I rationalized why buying a $29 pot-metal pistol or revolver was better than nothing if you could afford nothing else. I see the Hi-Point pistols this way. I have handled and shot a Hi-Point pistol, and there were operating issues, magazine related. Just like other guns, a different magazine might have solved the problem, but it wasn't my gun, and I wasn't interested enough to care. The owner remained infatuated with, and defensive of his pistol.

When Hi-Pont first came out I stated - look a cheaper version of Glock

If price was an issue I'd consider it. But it's not. I have recommended them to folks who really didn't have the money to step up for something "nice". I haven't owned one but all the reports I've heard is that they are reliable. Hard to knock that. It's my priority for sure.

To all you hi point bashers , I will bet you never shot one in your life . They are awesome , I have 2 hi point carbines. 10 times better than the ruger "original " pistol carbines , I have both, so no reason to lie, the hi point are much better at less than half the price !!

I've never owned or fired one.

The 3 or 4 guys I know who do own them, have the carbine say they're solid and reliable. A local FFL here sells the bejezus out of them .... says he makes a fair profit on them and they never come back with problems.

I've never owned one and probably never will but I'm glad they exist.

They seem to go bang when they're supposed to, are accurate enough for defensive needs and are priced to where a person of limited income can be armed.

I have owned 3 back in the day when they first came out
They were accurate and never failed to fire

Certainly cheaply made but if it is a Hi-Point or a stick I'll take the Hi-point
It will fire the round as any other gun & get the job done

There must not be too much hate, at least for the carbines, you have a real problem
finding a place with a carbine in stock (interweb status).
