THE GRANDSON'S ARE SHOOTERS!

Two of my son's & their families went on a little weekend camping adventure last week & of course they have all the normal camping gear...fishing poles & 22 rifles.
Three of the young grandson's have done a lot of shooting for an 8 yr old, a 9 yr old & an 11 year old. Their dads decided to see if they could duplicate some of the shots seen on TV in the last few months. Shooting offhand at 25 feet all 3 of them split a playing card, one did it on the first shot, the other 2 did it on the fourth shot. They were all smiles & their dads were quite proud to say the least! :wink: These 3 boys have shot a boat load of ground squirrels & rock chucks the last 2-3 years, they're getting pretty good! :shock:
One of them had tossed a tennis shoe up in a tall pine tree & couldn't get it down, they wanted to see "grandpa" shoot it down with one of their 22 rifles, none of them had ever seen me shoot a rifle before. I broke the lace with the second shot, offhand, it was about 30 feet, perhaps a little more.
Then I had to try a playing card at 25 feet with the Lipseys 44 special, I had to make a windage adjustment after shooting at a knot on a pine tree, then split the card with the second shot, the boys were excited, grandpa was relieved! :wink:

Enjoyed the write up and the photos, Dick. Those g'sons are good shots! G'pa needs to get them shooting pistols instead of rifles. :wink:

BTW, that's good shootin on your part. A fella's gotta keep up his end, especially with the g'son's watching.

its a good thing you had your special shooting shoes on other wise grandpa would've been embarrassed and the grand kids would've been disappointed :shock:

but as it was it all turned out great day and lots of proud papas and and grand kids. I'm glad to see your foot is healing up and really glad to see that your family plays together and that they have passed down the shooting genes. You are truly a blessed man

Dick, I've heard of cutting the deck, but jeez, not in half with a .44 slug :lol: Great memories for the kids and grandkids. That trip looks like the first time the grandkids got to see Grandpa shoot a long gun :lol: . You gotta watch your image. 10 day count down !

These 3 grandson's are crack shots believe me, they've done a lot of shooting! These same 3 were with us last year when we seen 57 bears, they got a live time of bearing watching in one year!
Had the hat on sideways because the sun was hitting me pretty hard, that front sight was a looooong ways away for an old pistol shooter.

Just got home from 6 days at the Cache County Fair in Logan, Utah, had a great time!
The middle "bear is a good size Brown Bear, the one on the right is a average size "grizz" & the heavyweight on the left is actually a "River Horse".......HIPPO!!
Actually the 57 bears is a record for us, we normally see 20-30, for some reason last spring was pretty special!

I've got 3 grandsons and 2 grandaughters! All are shooters and it's almost as much fun helping them shoot as it is shooting by myself.
