I dug the kids out of storage while putting the winter clothes away for a few months....
It was time to inspect and wipe down.. here are my pony pistols....
My Gov't model dates to 1978... I know because that's when I bought it! I was only 16, but when there is a gun there is a way...
.... I went into the local sports shop with my newest copy of Shotgun News and asked the owner to order me a Star Model B, from either sarco, or maybe J&G... can't really recall...It was 89.95? But the owner flipped through the pages until he came to the Colt Gov't Model.... It was about $200 out the door.. So I bee-lined across the street to 1st nat'l bank and got the money.... He said I'd need someone to do the paperwork.... I said "leave that to me!!
It came in just before a 5 day holiday weekend (thanksgiving).... back then everything closed down!! That was the worst 5 days of my life!!!
Next is my Colt Official Police.. no story behind it.... just wanted it!!... It dates to 1910, and other than replacement grips and being re-blued it's in great shape!!
The Colt Police Positive is the same.... I just wanted it.... Also dates to 1910 and has a good bit of that black colt blue... chambered in 38 s&w... my second fav fun caliber...
Book'um Dano.... The Detective Special I bought for my mom... I figured she should have something... We went out for breakfast every saturday except for deer season and fishing opener... (I don't make the rules)... My buddy J.J had his shop just a few doors down from the cafe.. Although it isn't marked he said he got in some police trade-ins.. 4-5 chief specials and this Colt... Mom thought the Colt felt better, (everyone agree's)... I plunked down some money, then we'd stop by and pay more down every saturday... I paid $240 for it.....
I let a few go over the years (funded my move).... but I'll remedy that soon.....
