I have only ever run across one in person before, and that was about 10 years ago. What is the going rate on a .357 Redhawk in either finish. I was hoping for a 5-inch version.

There is only one 'finish', and it's matte.
The material is stainless steel.
There were 5.5" and 7.5" versions, for a total presumed to be under ten thousand units.

The 'going rate' is whatever you pay is worth it if you want one.

I love my 7.5", and it will not be sold (felt no love for my 5.5" --not sure why; balance?-- and sold that for $650 three or four years ago).

There is one on Gunbroker right now with a starting bid of 655, no reserve and a buy now price of 800......I think it will go for a little more than the 655.

I bought a LNIB 7-1/2 incher on this forum for 600 last summer and figured I got a good buy.

I would not sell it because it makes a good conversation starter. I like to lay out a SP 101, a Security 6, a GP100 and the Redhawk, just to illustrate the different sizes of .357s available.

I've seen several on Gun Broker plus one on another site. Can't remember the site but they wanted $800 to start!! Way over priced unless you got $ you don't know what to do with. :)

I think if you want one, that anywhere between 600 and 800 for one in excellent condition is a decent price as they are pretty hard to find and Redhawks in general aren't getting any cheaper. It is intriguing to own the worlds strongest .357 revolver but I tend to like to go the opposite direction with a semi lightweight Security Six in 4". I like the 5.5" fairly heavy Redhawk in 41 or 44 or even 45 Colt to tame the recoil a bit with stout loads but seems way overkill for .357 although I would buy one anyways if I saw one local at decent deal.

I'm looking for a Redhawk in .357 too, but if you wanted "the world's strongest .357" wouldn't you be looking for a model 28 "Highway Patrolman"?

Last one I sold (listed on Christmas, closed on New Year's Day)went for $680 + shipping. Sold another last summer for $725 + shipping. Both on GB with penny minimum starting bids and no reserve. Both 5.5" guns.

I suspect a S&W model 28 (or 27) would blow up, shoot loose, or go out of time before a .357 Redhawk. The Freedom Arms model 97 might be a better match for the Redhawk.

Perhaps. Perhaps not. No doubt both are fine revolvers that would probably outlast several owners if taken care of.

Freedom Arms? Ugh...
