That Submersible

The Titanic has been damaged by all of these tourist visits, stuff has been looted and sold on the black market. It would have been better if it had never been found.

This latest group, just adds to the tragedy, but they knew the risks and I’m sure signed waivers. I would like to know how much the search effort is costing us.

Your tax money paid for the finding the Titanic first time, we even made Robert Ballard a Lieutenant Commander, so the project would be somewhat legal.

The government was actually trying to find a downed Soviet Sub and used looking for the Titanic as a cover. They also may have been looking for the two subs we lost from the 1960's, I was more worried about the Soviets I could see.

Three places I never liked to cruise over in the Atlantic; Titanic, Hood or Bismarck.

Those people did have some stones because I don't even like being below the water line.

The most charitable opinion I can think of is that they paid $250K each to get a nice long look at the wreck of Titanic, and they're getting more than their money's worth.

Making themselves a secondary attraction on future tours of the Titanic is just an ironic bonus.

He was warned . . .

During the same year, the Manned Underwater Vehicles committee of the Marine Technology Society sent a letter to Rush, warning the CEO that his refusal to allow an outside entity to test the safety of his vessel was ignoring "a critical component in the safeguards that protect all submersible occupants," according to a copy of the letter obtained by The New York Times.

Rush reportedly called the chairman of the committee after reading and rejecting the letter, explaining that he was ignoring the recommendations of the experts in favor of the company's own safety standards because "industry regulations were stifling innovation."

They say the waiver they signed mentioned “possible death” 3 times on the first page! Multiple times after that! Should have known it was a possibility but then, most won’t believe it could happen to them!

If this vessel is indeed lost and it looking that’s going to be the outcome it appears that wokeness is in part responsible for the lives lost, idiots.
I just hoping that doesn't foreshadow things to come with our old company and someone's kid gets hurt.

You know from own experience the Pond is merciless on Stupid People.

Indeed, stupid and otherwise. My Frigate lost a BM overboard in the cruise right before I got onboard. Very heavy North Atlantic seas and something needed securing on the forecastle, don’t remember exactly what it was. This BM volunteered to do the job. He was tied off and went forward and a huge wave washed him off, he was never found. Sad to say I don’t even know his name. The oceans don’t play, factor in stupid and the odds go way in favor of Davey Jones.

How do you loot from a ship 13,000 feet under water?

I don't know how well it's insulated but the water is like 25 degrees there. Hypothermia at the very least... Such a sad way to die.

With a submersible. They say every time they document the wreck there is more damage from tourism subs and more things missing.
Ya don’t think natural erosion of metal, ocean currents, and nudgings from shark, and whales won’t change it? How many tourist submersibles are there? This one is also used in research.
