I had a brand new Redhawk .45 do the same thing, sent it back to Ruger and they replaced the pawl. Frustrating on a new gun, but my revolver did exactly as you describe. My gun was purchased March 5 of this year.I recently bought a used Super Redhawk, 44 mag. The hammer and trigger will randomly lock down, when I open the cylinder it frees up. Has anyone else had this problem, if so, what’s the solution?

My Redhawk has close to 300 rounds through it and just has started acting up. I'm hoping a good cleaning sets things right.Just curious....if this was a FTF buy .....when you looked at this used revolver what type of evaluation did you conduct to inspect prior to the decision of purchase? No issues found and then suddenly this?
