I have a chance to pick up a Super Redhawk in .454 Casull, with 9.5" barrel. The revolver is in very good condition, but does not include the factory scope rings. I'm not too concerned about the scope rings, as I don't plan on mounting a scope on the gun.

Here's my question. What's a fair price on this gun, and are they necessarily any harder to find than 7.5" models? Is there a premium on the longer barreled SRH's in .454, or at least a bigger demand for them? Thanks!

I bought one recently for $550. I don't think there is a premium or that they are any harder to find than any other ruger.

Wouldn't they be a bit easier to find seeing as to how many people buy the 454 not realizing its recoil and/or the cost of ammunition over that of 44 Magnum? Once they realize they have too much gun when 44Mag will suffice, they may sell/trade their 454s.

Really a shame that occurs.
They could shoot 45Colts in the gun if recoil is a problem.

...handloading to whatever level of performance or recoil a shooter can handle is the way to go.

Greybeard, it could very well be a case of somebody getting something that they do not know too much about. When I take my SRH to the range, not everybody realizes I can fire 44 specials in it as well. Given the 454 being lesser known than the 44 Magnum, the general public simply may not know that it takes 45 Colt. Heck, how many people at a range are unaware that you can fire 454 Casull and 45 Colt in the 460 S&W?
