I know the .45LC was a Lipseys exclusive and 885 were made. Were the .41Mag (0863) an exclusive also? Who for? I've seen more sales of the .41 than the .45, but still not many of them.

Thanks for the info, I'm looking forward to replies.

Ordinarily I don't like barrels much longer than 5" with 6 1/2" being rare here, and I'm not ordinarily into aesthetics but like the hunter design even the grossly impractical rimfire models.

I have the two rimfire Hunters (not the .17 convertible though, just the HMR) and quite enjoy them. I have a .44 Mag Plow Handle Hunter arriving today, and those are still in production. The info on the .41 has been hard to come by, although I did just find an article on handgunsmag.com that says it was a Davidson's Gallery of Guns exclusive, so getting closer.

A few of us in here have the .41 and we may not have had an idea that they are scarce. Ruger is no help, checking my 41 and .45 SN it just says SUPER BLACKHAWK on the query page while the .44 has the detail:

View current Spec Sheet for Bisley Hunter, with a pic of a Hunter.

Do you have the bisley or the plow handle? I see more of the bisley's around, but I prefer the plow.

Is it the SBH Hunter? What caliber?

Mine is the plow grip frame (gf). I was ALSO unaware that the .41 came with a Bisley gf. I feel in the dark about all of the flavors of Ruger revolvers and this place is my light switch :)

SBH Hunters are very nice guns for sure. And they are in a few different calibers. While the .44 mag seems to be the one in the spotlight for most,, many serious handgunners know about,, try to get & enjoy the .45's & the .41's. The .44 has the center stage for the public,, but the .45, and the .41,, well, they are the serious foundation pieces.

I had a 41 Hunter. I did not care for the scope on the barrel so it eventually went to someone else. Was a nice gun tho.

I mounted a Weigand base to the top strap of my Blackhawk 45 after that, and eventually grabbed a SRH Hunter in 480.

Balance is better and less bulky of a holster.

Probably helps the .44 that it is still in production. ;)

I am on the lookout for both the .41 and .45 with the plow handle. Watching a couple at auction right now. I will be picking up my .44 later today. I still want to find out how many of the .41's were made.

The .44 came out first and never left (until maybe recently?)The 41 and 45 were limited runs from the start. I searched hard for a .41 for a long time. Finally found one in 2007. I asked if they had any more since they were scarce even back then. He had another .41 and a 45 Colt. I bought all three. Sold the Colt in the teens. Not long after that I trade for another 45 Colt. I sold it in the early teens here and both 41's went a couple years ago also here. All were plow handles. The 41's were in black plastic boxes. I know one of the 45's was grey, not sure about the 3rd. I may have a pic somewhere.

I got a plow handle version in .45 LC.

Was actually looking for a .41 and the shop had gotten in a couple of the .45s so I got one of those instead.

First thing I did was replace the factory grips with some Hogue rubber finger grooves. Then put a 2x Nikon pistol scope on it.

It likes Underwood 250gr +p

Puts a hurt on deer.

I just got back from picking up my .44. Burris is the only scope maker worth anything that still makes stainless pistol scopes.

Now I just need to get it to the range and zeroed. I am still on the hunt for a .41 and a .45.

Ah a quest for a trio! A worthy quest.
