I prefer blue but seams like I wind up with stainless. Because I don't find the gun I want in blue.

I love stainless steel because it is highly corrosion resistant. If I wanted a gun to look blued, I would buy a stainless gun and apply a coating. Likewise, if I bought a blued gun and thought it might be susceptible to corrosion, I would coat it with a corrosion-resistant finish like hard chrome. My only exception to this practice is collectible pieces that have higher value if the finish is not altered.

What can I say? I think corrosion is more or less the bane of all existence. Some day, all matter in the universe will decay into quarks, but it doesn't have to be on my watch.

Blued. Don't live in an area that I have to worry about acid rain, or salt from the sea or even much humidity.... So 'highly' corrosive resistant isn't a concern. Plus blued looks much better.

While stainless is more durable and practical, I'm just a walnut and blued steel kinda guy through and through.

I'm neutral between blue and stainless. Whichever is better condition/ better price.

For looks in the abstract, I prefer nickle to either.

I said stainless but really like both. I've found myself alternating back and forth from purchase to purchase, just to keep it even in the safe.

I voted stainless, and then re-read the question. I prefer the "looks" of blue, but I prefer the utility of stainless.

Blue and walnut guns are certainly better looking than stainless. And I own a good share of blued guns. But my blued guns don't get nearly the use of my stainless guns.

WAYNO.

I voted stainless and I only have double action. After reading Jimbo's post about stainless for DA and blued for SA I realized that if or I should say, when, I get a SA I will likely choose blued. Honestly, I never thought about it but for such a traditional gun, I would choose blued.

All my handguns but three are Stainless. I hunt 90% of the time with handguns no matter the weather, & am more confident that the Stainless will not be adversely effected by inclement weather conditions. As for CCW, I tend to perspire quite a bit in summer, & Stainless fends off the effects of the salty perspiration a bit better.

As for any long guns, I much prefer Blued & wood, but they do not go out in inclement weather as do the handguns !!

While the bluing on a SBH I owned back in 1968 was absolutely beautiful, IMO the current standard Ruger bluing is not as eye appealing what it was back in the sixties and early seventies. Consequently I am currently a stainless fan when purchasing most current models. There are a few exceptions where the model may dictate blue/case-hardening.

Blue. I live in an arid climate and rust is not an issue. If it was humid, I'd probably go with stainless. btw, I almost bit on a special run of blued 77/357 carbines Ruger had a couple of years ago. Wish I had and will snag one for sure if they run it again. Purely a cosmetic issue with me. Old guy that likes traditional stuff. Crimeny, I can't even live with a variable power scope. Has to be fixed.

I voted SS,,but I've always felt Blue guns shoot better. My first Old Army was very accurate. I traded it for a SS model and never felt it was as accurate. Then I bought a 1976 blue O A and it has very slick trigger. And it shoots well. My Dr. And shooting buddy agrees with me. He has blue Smith Wessons that I like. I shoot his blue .45 5.5 BH lights out.

I take that back. I shot 2 SS .45 Blackhawks and 2 SS RUGER .22's. Yesterday. Everything shot great. My Mini 14 is SS Ranch. And it's accurate. I do think it takes longer to break a SS version in.

I like both and go out of the way and acquire a "Yin & Yang" Pair..............

That's funny, but that is what I captioned this photo. I like 'em both, but like blue more.
