So, I've had my SR40 for a while, and I clean it regularly (after every trip to the range). I've found that it consistently has a decent amount of brass shavings in the striker channel each time I take it apart. Anybody else experience this? Is it normal? I would think this would be a problem, but this is one of my first firearms so I'm not quite hip to what I should expect. I've put ~1000 rounds through it so far.

Thanks... but I guess a better question is, is this normal for most handguns, or is it just normal for the SR series? Seems like an easy way for brass to jam up the striker channel and lead to a failure to fire for whatever reason...

Ahhh.... the wonders of the internet and the Google search engine....Here is a link to the results of a Google search for "cleaning of pistol striker channel." There were over 400,000 hits.

With regular cleanings, it should not be a factor. If you let it get filled up with shavings, then it might become an issue. I think the shavings will lessen up over time though as the parts lose their sharp machined edges.
