I am having a problem with my slide. It is gritty sliding the slide to the back so that I can cock and then pull trigger so that I can disassemble the weapon. The problem is the trigger will not operate so that I can disassemble it. I know that I have to take the striker cover off so that I can remove the striker cover and the striker so that I can then separate the slide from the assembly. It seems like I have to lock the slide back and push with a 1/16th punch in the small hole and then the cover is suppose to come off....only problem is that does not work....any suggestion would be welcomed....I am hesitant to mail the gun to Ruger as it is almost 2 hours to the closest FedEx that accepts pistols. Thanks in advance....Paul

Please do not send this gun off to Ruger. One of my pet peeves is to see so many guns sent off for frivolously reasons. All that does is tie up real issues and cost us all money. I do not own one, but am sure that in a few minutes I could figure it out. Please check out Youtube video's on that gun as well as others. I am sure you just missed a simple step or solution. Most are very similar. You need to learn how. You must periodically have to clean the striker channel or replace parts.
Also, be careful not to loose parts. A small flying spring can turn into a nightmare.

The striker removal process for the Max-9 is the same as the LC9S. The only way I know to take it off requires the slide to be off the frame. I just learned this in the past couple of days. The hole you see at the side of the striker plate is something else. If you go to youtube & search LC9S slide disassembly or LC9s striker removal you will see how to do it.

I am sure this is not the answer you were hoping for.

Thank you everyone. I used youtube. Yesterday the videos were not adequate. Today I finally found out how to remove the striker cap. You simply:
1. lock the slide back
2. make sure the striker is pushed forward
3. and take a 1/16 punch and insert it into a small hole on the underside of the slide and push forward and the cap will easily come off..

Thanks for the guidance and suggestions....now it is cleaned and back together and working properly!

At this point, you should go ahead and clean the striker channel. Happy to see that you did not send in the gun to Ruger. You just learned a few things and all is good.

Glad you got it. I didn't think about the fact locking the slide back would give you access. Dumb of me. Glad you got it taken care of.
