SR345 vs P97: Any performance reason to get the newer one?

I have the P97 and am happy with it, except it has a weird recoil vibration. It is more accurate than I am and I am pleased enough to keep it.

I picked up the SR345 and liked the fit in my hand marginally better than the P97. However, I have a hard time spending $525 for the same brand of .45 unless there is a significant performance advantage.

I know the SR345 has a loaded chamber indicator [don't care] and a magazine safety [don't care]. I know I can re-use all the P97 mags I've bought. It feels mildly better in my hand, but I would have to spend another $150 on top of the SR345's price for night sights installed [have them currently].

I noticed the plastic frame rails of the SR345 appear less stout than the P97 also. I don't know if this is an appearance thing, or if it is really less stout.

Is there ANY major accuracy or reliability advantage for the SR345 over the P97 to warrant the change?

Thanks in advance.

I personally would take a P90 or P97 or P95 over ANY of the newer
designs being offered. It is a real shame that they discontinued the
P97 in my opinion. They still make the P95 and it is a great weapon,
I have one and it will stay mine. I used to have a P90 and foolishly
traded it away. Never got around to getting a P97 before they dropped
it from the line.

Absolutely !! You're far better off doing NOTHING in terms of your current thoughts and buying an entry level 1911 if you want another 45, which is what I would definitely do if I were in your situation.

There is no reason to change pistols in terms of performance.

I prefer the P345 grip frame, so it's the one I kept. The P97 (and early P95s) grip is a bit too slick in my hands.

If you have a small boat and some anchor-line, the 1911 makes some sense!

Think I'm gonna hang onto my P97 as a carry gun for a spell longer. I like the feel of the .345 but am not a fan of the safety features. :)

The 345 is a noisy thing. Drop the slide and all kinds of rattles happen, apprently normal. My P95 is better built, I think, and so the P97 should be similar (same) in reliability and function. I almost bought a P97 because the operation would be the same as my P95, and I thought they would look great together, But the 345 fit my hand better and was only $50 more, new. I'm getting to like the 345 more the longer I have it, but it is having to win me over, whereas the P95 fhad me from the get go. If grip size isn't that big a deal and you're not just looking to get the latest and greatest, my.002 Obama cents worth would be to keep the P97.

I think that the P345 has a better feel, a better trigger, its lighter, slimmer, probably the nicest looking pistol Ruger has built....nothing wrong with the rugged reliability of the older pistola's though even though they kinda lack in the cool looks department.
