Ruger releasing a Newer MAX 9 !

I hadn't seen any posts of the new Max 9 to be released..
Actually a Max 9 that accepts Glock style sights, it has simpler but better slide serrations, comes with two 10rd mags , optic cut @ $249 street price and built in Arizona

Well the price should attract some attention. The sights were a big part of what attracted me to the Max9. I suppose at this price one could afford decent sights of their choosing. That's about half of what I paid 4 years ago!!!

I like my Max 9. I bought the long slide and barrel from Buds a few days ago. I think it was about a hundred bucks. I bought a few magazines so my total would be enough for free shipping.

So, does anyone know if the "newer" Max-9 is backwards compatible with the old Max-9? I'm wondering if my "long slide" assembly might fit & function on the "newer" frame, or if they've changed it so much that it's basically a different firearm...

Just got the XS Sights in the mail and installed.
The OEM Ruger rear sight came out with just one tap!
Loctite front and rear, should be good to go!
No plans to install a red dot.
For the record, I ordered the XS Sights for the 43 & 43X.

I've got the older version , it came with the reddot, I tried and found i didn't like it , which is a surprise as I have many reddots on different guns and like them but the one that came with the Max , no thanks , part of the problem for me was that darn hood that you needn't to put on it to make it go to sleep , what a waste and having the battery on the bottom , were you have to remove the sight to replace the battery no thanks

I just got a clean used Model 3500 with the Triitum sights.

Looking at updating the trigger after putting a few hundred rounds thru it. Looks like it has the Holsun grip and came with two mags. Any suggestions welcome...

Yeah I hear you on that—having to pull the optic just to swap a battery is a pain, and the sleep hood thing always felt like a step backwards. A lot of the newer dots have side-load batteries now, so you don't have to mess with rezeroing after a change.
If you ever decide to give another red dot a try on a carry gun, the ROMEO-MSR 1x20mm Red Dot is a nice no-frills option. Simple controls, solid battery life, and none of that hood/bottom-battery hassle.

I have a few of those on AR's, solid sight for the money. But, might not be the best option for a compact or sub-compact pistol

I put the Galloway trigger in my Max-9. I believe MCarbo also makes one if memory serves correctly.

How do you like the Galloway? I have that slated for the upgrade after my test firing...

I prefer it to the stock trigger. I like the way it is shaped better. It has been a while since I used the stock trigger but if I recall correctly there is less take up, & a shorter reset.

Ran 100 rounds thru it today and it shoots clean! Trigger is a little sloppy, so that will get upgraded with a Galloway...

I made an account here just to reply to this comment. Maybe I'll stick around. First of all, thank you for sharing this info. I love the XS on my Glock and was saddened to see they don't offer it for the Max 9. Have yours stayed in place since the time of posting? How was the fit on the rear sight install? Was it loose or did you have to file? I figure the set screws on the big dots will make a small amount of initial play in the process not a huge issue. I reached out to XS a month ago asking for Max 9 compatibility and they said there wasn't anything available. Maybe they are just saying this to cover their asses in case there is some malfunction that was due to improper loctite job. I appreciate any insight if you have the time.

Installation was actually a breeze.
I did not have to file anything! A couple of light taps to center then just turned down the screws and locktite it all down.
Sights have not moved an inch!
I am VERY happy with this combination!
Anything else, please let me know!

You must have the newer model, since most of them including mine have a dovetail front sight slot. I contacted XS again asking which of their other Big Dots would be closest fitting to the Max 9 dovetail, only to get back the same highly manicured and legalistic response of denial. I assume there is something that could work and would fit with augmentation, some Frankenstein combo of certain rear and front Big Dots they make for other handguns, but they don't want to be liable for any shoddy kitchen gunsmithing, the likes of which make this country great in the first place.

XS makes Big Dot DXT2 sights for the following firearms that also have dovetail front sights:

Sig p365
M&P Shield
FN509
Beretta 92
Bersa BP9CC
Canic TP9
Colt 380

I think the rear dovetail would be the easiest to find replacement. Find a similar shape, hopefully a bit bigger than the dimensions of the Max 9, a little filing and let the two set screws do the rest with loctite. If the rear dovetail is the same on the new Max 9 model, we can assume that the G43 Big Dots will work.

The front sights don't have the two set screws so I'd assume the most potential issues out of it. One of the above mentioned might be a close enough shape and with some filing can be made to work.

But the real question to all of this...
Is it worth it?

Yes, I do have the newer model of the Max 9. The sight set up is the same as Glock. Screw in front as apposed to the dovetail and regular rear slide groove. I see how the older model has the older sight set up (dovetail front & rear).
The XS sights on the newer model slide really make a huge leap forward for me.

Man, don't rub it in! I started using them on my Glock 21 last month and for the first time ever I am surgical with that handgun. I REALLY want them on my Max 9.

Also all my other Glocks as well.
Easy install and what a world of difference!
