Grandson got a SR22 for xmas--it is very hard to load the magazine with ammo --got 2 mags and they are both super tight where the rim of the shell goes into the lip of mag---anyone have this problem? what to do? Thanks

New magazines are often tough to load to capacity. I load my SR22 magazines by placing base on a hard surface and gorilla-gripping the spring retainer and holding it down while inserting rounds.

I use a SuperThumb on my Standard, a Lula Loader on hi cap CF magazines and last a REVERSED plastic-like coned shaped faucet washer on my SIG 1911-22 magazines.

Someone may come up with a work around for loading SR22 mags however I haven't seen one.

Best.

My SR22 magazines have a thumb assist on the side. Very easy to use. Still got sore thumb from loading so many rounds. Got a loader from brassstacker.com and all is well.

Old post I know but one of the two mags that came with my SR22 was very difficult to load - regardless of the position of the follower - the opening through which the rims had to pass was too tight on one of them - I contacted Ruger - they shipped me a replacement and sent back the faulty unit.

I was able to spread the gap out a tiny bit using a plastic tool - and likely could have worked it to were it was the same as the other - but I figured better for long term reliability and peace of mind to get the factory to swap it out. I now have 5 magazines and no such issue with any of them.
