Have had the gun for 9 months now and have fired about 1500 rounds through it. We tried several brands of ammo and had a few problems with anything that was a wax coated lead bullet. Settled on the copper plated Federal Bulk from WalMart. There has been virtually no glitches with any of that brand.

The last 2 times on the range we got 1 or 2 FTFs on each magazine full. They are random, not at the beginning or end of the mag. The only difference was that it was a different lot of ammo, but the same brand.

Any words of wisdom?

I've experienced some FTF's, usually with Remington ammunition but it does happen to a lesser degree with other brands. The first thing I would check on the FTF round would be the primer strike. If it looks normal it's probably a defective round. If you want to double check you might chamber the round in another firearm and see if it will fire. Mass produced .22 ammunition is not 100% perfect. Federal is good (usually) and I shoot Federal but I prefer CCI.

I should clarify....my usage of the term FTF = fail to feed. Never had a fail to fire, so firing pin strikes are not an issue.

The gun fires and ejects the case fine, but it doesn't strip the next round from the mag.

Personally, I would expect Remington ammo to "Fail to fire". Some of that crap wouldn't fire if you hit it with a hammer. Haven't used any Rem in 8 or 10 years since their QC is non-existant.

Mine leads up quickly when using waxed lead bullets but thrives on the copper coated rounds. Besides a few Mini Mags and Velocitors mine sees Federal Champions almost exclusively. Now and then I get a failure to feed after the fired round before has ejected, which I think is caused mostly by a light charge of powder in the previously fired round which didn't allow the slide to move rearward far enough to strip off another round.

It is my opinion that all the failure to feed (usually the second round, seems to hang and not push up ) is a mag related problem. 9 rounds in the mag and i bet your problem will be solved or at least that is they way it is with mine. Time, wear, and a heavier mag spring will be our friend. I absolutely love mine. Good Shooting

Its never the first or last round in the mag. Its always in the middle. Both mags do it the same.
