I do not keep up with revolvers much. But I have found a 1976 speed six. SS,2 3/4 barrel, bobbed hammer. But the flat spot on top of hammer is checkered. Anything special about this speed six. Value?

Does it have Liberty year markings on the left side of the frame? Box included? That may increase the value.

The standard Ruger 'speed' hammer (as the bobbed hammer was called), can be DAO or DA/SA. The checkering on the top of the hammer gives some purchase for SA shooting, if it's a DA/SA. Speed hammers could be ordered to come on the gun or as an after market swap.
I really have not noticed a price difference with the speed hammer.
If the gun is in excellent condition, the 200th year can add $25 - $50 in value (to a collector).
There seems to be a strong market for these at this time, I'm guessing for the CCW crowd.

Ruger needs to get off their butt and make a six shot .38 that doesn't weigh a ton, as they had with the Speed Six. Revolvers are very popular nowadays and I would buy one for sure.

I believe the spurless hammers were also sold separately at the time however.
