at Davidson's Gallery of Guns. Look like some good deals, but you get it through your local store? Anyone have any experience with Davidson's?

Yup, I have bought several from them. Great way to get what you want at the lowest price possible. You can also see just how much some shops mark up their guns!

Davidson's is good to go. You ask for a quote and give your zip code. Tell them how far you are willing to travel and they will show you a bid from all the shops in that area. You choose the one you want and pay the deposit. They ship it to the local shop where you pay the balance, do the paperwork and take your new toy home. It works just fine.

Seems like a kinda ok deal for the local shop, too. Since they can't compete with internet prices and the high cost of carrying inventory, we get internet pricing and they get the "fee" for processing?

I bought a GP100 (6in. ss) from Davidsons through my local shop last Summer. Things went smoothly and I would't hesitate to go that route again.

What is the deposit for in the first place?
I'm guessing that Davidson's, a wholesaler, only gets so many at a time?
When you give them the deposit, they send THAT order to your local shop and reduce their inventory. When they're gone, they're gone, till the next time DAVIDSON'S gets inventory. If you are looking for something, you can go to their site and IF they don't have any, they'll put you on an e-mail alert list.

I have bought through Davidsons but Acrylictnk here on Rugerforum is usually substantially less money!!

+1

Worked out great for me too. Ordered on Monday and I had it by Wednesday!

I searched and even though it says 'on sale' the prices in my opinion are not sale prices.

You might do better on Gunbroker.

You might have some dude walk up and give you a new one too. Don't bet on it.
The FFL I found on GOG sells ANYTHING from GOG at a 7% markup. Credit card to Davidson's and Cash difference to him. 7% above dealer cost is hard to beat anywhere.

Maybe its just my zipcode but davidsons lists the Gp100 models at anywhere from $625 - $750.

A quick look at Gunbroker shows comparable models and some special ones like the Lipseys going for $399 - $550.

After shipping and transfer fees thats still cheaper than the gun genie prices, but like I said maybe my region has a gp100 price hike... Although I did buy one locally approximately one year ago, NIB, for less than the cheapest Davidson price and it wasn't on sale.

Tony,

The prices are based on how much your local retailer wants to mark up the prices. Some gouge, others are very fair as noted above.

I've ordered several guns from Davidsons over the years, great place to do business. Unlike GB, any gun purchased from Davidsons comes with a Lifetime Replacement Warranty.

Regards,

Josh

I've purchased five guns from Davidson's "Gallery Of Guns"......... great deals, great service. Would highly recommend them.

They also offer a "lifetime warranty" on what they sell (over and above any manufacturer's warranty).......... also, if for any reason, your dealer can't complete the sale (you failed a background, etc.) they will promptly credit your deposit money.

The shipping is in the quoted price, and in all of my purchases, the guns were shipped "overnight".

Completely trustworthy, in my experience

Just for comparable's to my location, the 3" and 4" are $552-557, net. After adding sales tax and the local shops "fee", they are $622-$628. Bud's have 'em for $513-534.........
So, about $100 more then Bud's. 7% of that is sales tax, of course.

what is the going price for an SP101 in .357 and the 3 inch version these days anyhow you guys think? Comparable to whats on GOG?

500 - 600 is better than 600 - 700. Regardless of what you pay its a fine firearm and what it can do for you is certainly above and beyond any fiscal tag :)

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from davidsons if the price was right. I also wouldn't hesitate to buy from gunbroker since NIB is NIB anywhere you get it, and Ruger will back their stuff even if you buy it from a homeless man in an alley.
