SP101 vs LCR Trigger Pull

I have an SP101 that has what I consider a pretty decent trigger as it came from the factory. Has probably 1000-1200 rds through it.

I was curious what the LCR trigger was like but the only one locally was the .22 Mag version which I suspect has a smaller cylinder diameter. If that’s correct, don’t know if that has any bearing on the trigger pull but that particular specimens trigger wasn’t nearly as good as my SP.

Anyone have both and can compare trigger smoothness? Thanks, Don

I own the SP but have shot both in 357 but the comparative trigger pull doesn't stick in my head. If I remember, it was lighter but longer but the longer perception might have been the obnoxiously long trigger guard.

Others might have better input, but the trigger was supposed to be the finer point of the LCR and quotes I've seen are lighter on the scale and a lot smoother than the SP.

But the SP's still a better stronger revolver if you don't pocket carry :)

The LCR in 38 and 357 has a much lighter double action pull, but you must allow the trigger to return fully forward on the LCR to reset. It just takes some getting used to and at speed you don't really notice it. I have both and the LCR is much easier to shoot double action.

The rimfire LCRs have a stiffer spring for ignition and hence a stiffer trigger. I own an SP in 38 and have handled an LCR 38 and can say without a doubt the LCR trigger is much better.

I realize it's not what you asked, but I have a GP-100 and an LCR 357 and I think the trigger on the GP is just as nice as the one on the LCR.

Haven't tried and SP-101

I have both but the SP is a CCW gun and the GP is for general purposes and range work. GP has an excellent trigger, really wonder why all the complaints about Ruger triggers? It’s not as good as my S&W .500 Mags but still very good. Don

It’s NOT a big difference. It sure makes a J Frame S&W or any striker fired semi auto look very bad. Don

My LCR357 is very smooth and is possibly the best double action trigger from the factory. I have Taurus's and Smiths with excelant triggers but, it took a lot of shooting and dri firing to smooth them.

I have the SP (old 6 shot version) in 22LR and the LCR in 357. Just tried them both and they feel the same to me. Neither are as smooth as my Redhawks though.

I've only got 300 rounds through the LCR. When I first got the gun the cylinder release button was very "gritty" but that has been cured with 300 rounds. I suspect another 200 or so and it'll be perfect.
